Chucky’s Week 8 Game Picks

Well, Chucky is starting a new life. No longer tied down to the stress and volatile nature of Michigan football (they’ll finish a brutal 7-5) or the anemic Tigers (who will lose in five games to Boston and continue to bemoan their pathetic offense) Chucky has vowed not to waste his precious time watching the local teams. Instead, he’ll turn his attention to something more important, like raking the leaves and losing ten pounds. MANCHESTER @ MICHIGAN CENTER: The #3 and #5 teams in this week’s power poll collide. President Named for Jackson Preparatory and Early College

Michael Masters has been named founding president of the new Jackson Preparatory and Early College.  The school will be located on the campus of Jackson College and will open its doors in the fall of 2014.  Previously, Masters served as the dean of Jackson College's off campus operations.  Other guests:  Jackson Learning Lab Director Alicia Williams with students Sherae Manee and Madelyn Hauglie;  JR Sauceda and Billy Beers, Jackson Percussion Concussion event;  Pastor Bennie Gibson, New Macedonia Baptist Church, pizza flipping with Bart and Dan Laughlin at Laughlin's Slice of Spice.

2014 schedule set at NASCAR’s fastest racetrack

(Courtesy MIS) Track will host a pair of race weekends, June 13-15 and Aug. 15-17 BROOKLYN, Mich. (Oct. 15, 2013) — NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns to Southeast Michigan for the 46th year, bringing the excitement, pageantry and fun of NASCAR to race fans as Michigan International Speedway will host two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races – the Quicken Loans 400 on June 15 and the Pure Michigan 400 on Aug. 17. College and Career Access Center Grand Opening

The College and Career Access Center will hold a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Monday, October 21 at 5:30pm.  Director Linda Brian and Advisor Whitney Stoner talked about the new location in the Target wing at Jackson Crossing, along with the new name and added services.  Other guests:  Tara Ragauss, Education Program Manager, Consumers Energy;  Ben Puhr, Director/Co-Founder, Project HALO (Homeless Assistance Leadership Organization) with client Burt Passino, holding a fundraiser on November 9 at Commonwealth Commerce Center;  Angela Machnik, Events Coordinator, Jackson County Chamber of Commerce;  Capital City Brass Band Music Director and Conductor Bill Waterman, promoting "All Tied Up" concert, Sunday at 7PM at the Michigan Theatre.

Michigan Oil Production Increases
