Kids ‘N’ Stuff Proudly Becomes Museum for All

Kids ‘N’ Stuff is partnering with the Association of Children’s Museums and the Institute of Museum and Library Services to offer reduced admission for qualifying individuals as part of the Museums for All program. Through this program, Kids ‘N’ Stuff is able to offer $1.50 admission to those who present their EBT (Electronic Benefit Transfer) card and a valid form of ID. Kids ‘N’ Stuff joins 27 other museums across the country to make sure everyone can experience the best museums have to offer, all for the lowest and most-affordable prices ever. Rose Run set for July 18

Get ready for the 45th Annual Rose Run coming Saturday, July 18 to the Jackson College Central Campus! Sponsored by Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists, P.C., the Rose Run will again feature 10K and 5K runs, a 5K walk, and a Kids Run. Events will begin at 8 a.m. on the Jackson College campus. Adult events start and finish on the JC campus and follow a scenic course around the College. Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group, in addition to overall, masters and grandmasters winners. All participants receive a T-shirt. Cost for events is $25 in advance, $30 on race day. Kids Fun Run is $5 in advance, $7 on race day. Registration and packet pick-up will be available Friday evening from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday morning before 7:30 a.m. in the lobby of the Victor Cuiss Fieldhouse. Proceeds from the Rose Run will benefit the JC cross country teams. Acoustic Strings to Kick Off Summer Concert Series

On Thursday, July 9, the well-known local bluegrass and gospel group Acoustic Strings will kick off the 2015 concert series at Walker Tavern Historic Site near Brooklyn, Michigan. The concert will run from 6 to 8 p.m. as part of Walker Tavern’s Picnic on the Lawn series. “Acoustic Strings is a delight to work with and has everyone tapping their toes by the end of their performance,” noted Friends of Walker Tavern President Bonnie McJennett. “We are pleased to sponsor such a talented group of crowd-pleasing individuals.” “We encourage our visitors to bring a lawn chair and a picnic and enjoy the outdoor music as the summer sun begins to set,” said Walker Tavern site historian Laurie Perkins. “It’s a great time to be out-of-doors in one of Michigan’s wonderful state parks.” The Thursday night concert series also will feature Sarah Bernstein and Luke Lenhart July 23 and the Old Tyme Millers String Band Aug. 20.
