The Michigan Center High School varsity competitive cheer team has made a habit of winning state titles.
They have five.
Concord is in the habit of winning Big Eight Conference titles – they have six in a row.
Both did well at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 4 district tournament Saturday at Vandercook Lake High School.
Michigan Center finished second to Hudson in the three-round tournament, scoring 734.34 points.
Concord took the fourth and final qualifying spot for the MHSAA regional Saturday at 6 p.m. The Yellow Jackets scored 709.32 advancing to the regional at Mason High School next weekend.
The district tournament at Vandercook Lake featured nine local school vying for four spots in the regional tournament.
Each regional tournament has 12 schools competing for four spots and a chance to compete at the MHSAA state championship on March 2 at the Delta Plex in Grand Rapids.
Michigan Center and Concord will advance to Mason for the regional tournament representing Jackson County.
