What started as a close first half out at HHHS on Wednesday night, ended up with the Cardinals falling in the second half.

Michigan Center ran out to a 6-0 lead in the first 1:30, with a Brody Shannon layup and 4 straight points from Adrien Putnam. Laingsburg responded with 5 straight of their own, MC now up 6-5 with 5:12 to play in the opening quarter.

The Cardinals went on another run, this time an 11-4 run. Jayden Watson scored 4 straight, followed by back-to-back 3-pointers from Hunter Clemons, making it 17-9. 

After the opening quarter, the Cardinals lead 17-13. 

To open the second quarter, Laingsburg scored 4 straight behind points from Ty Rendall and Brayden Thomas to tie it at 17 with 6:30 left. Michigan Center didn’t let the experienced Wolfpack team take the game away yet, Carter McCave knocked down a 3 to take the lead 21-19.

Eli Woodruff scored 4 straight for Laingsburg to make it 25-21 in favor of the Wolfpack with 3:15 left, followed by a Brayden Thomas 3–pointer with 3:09 left to make it 28-25.

Michigan Center scored 5 straight to make it a 30-28 lead at the half.

Laingsburg used their exceptional shooting and experienced team to start to pull away in Quarter 3. Woodruff tied it at 30 with a layup to open Q3. Both teams went back and forth for a few minutes, as Putnam and Woodruff traded shot for shot. Then, Jacob Essenberg buried back-to-back 3’s to make it a 43-37 Laingsburg lead with 3:12 left.

Laingsburg has a 52-41 lead after the 3rd quarter and started to seal the game. Laingsburg scored 6 straight to make it 58-41.

The Wolfpack outscored MC 11-1 in the fourth to win 63-42. Adrien Putnam led Michigan Center with 16 points. Laingsburg was led by Zander Woodruff with 30 points and Eli Woodruff added 13.

Laingsburg improves to 25-0 and keeps their season alive, they will play Ecorse in the Quarterfinal next week at Ypsilanti Lincoln.
