Extreme Dodge Jackson County Scoreboard September 14, 2022

Volleyball Western 3, Lumen Christi 0: The Panthers won 25-15, 25-20, and 25-19 at home on Wednesday. Senior Brynn Rogers went over the 2,000 assist career mark early in game one to become the second Panther to eclipse the mark. Rogers finished with 33 assists and five aces on the night. Kayda Herrick tallied 12 kills, Sydney Kellar had 16 digs, and Finley Elder recorded nine kills for Western (11-4-1 overall, 2-0 I-8).  Northwest 3, Pennfield 1: The Mounties improved to 2-5 with the Interstate-8 Conference win.   Boys cross country  SEC at Jackson: Jackson High School finished 12th at the first Southeastern Conference jamboree at Ella Sharp Park on Wednesday. Andrew England of Jackson finished 71st in 18:37 and teammate Elisha Correll placed 95th in 19:53.  Girls cross country  SEC at Jackson: Jackson High School was 12th at the Southeastern Conference jamboree at home on Wednesday. Grace Brown of Jackson finished 76th in 24:15 and Maya Hitchingham placed 85th in 24:49.  Boys soccer Michigan Center 1, Columbia Central 0: Hunter Clemons earned the shutout in goal for Michigan Center with 17 saves. Lumen Christi to Join the Catholic High School League in 2023-24

(September 14, 2022 12:32 PM) The Catholic High School League (CHSL) executive athletic board announced today the league has accepted a request from Lumen Christi Catholic High School to join the CHSL in all sports beginning with the 2023-24 school year. The decision follows months of discussion between the nation’s largest Catholic sports league and Lumen Christi, a private Catholic high school located in Jackson and operated by the Diocese of Lansing. The school signaled its interest in a letter to the CHSL formally requesting membership, and the request subsequently was approved by the board of the CHSL. Beginning in the fall of 2023, student athletes at Lumen Christi will be eligible to compete in CHSL championships in all 30 sports overseen by the league. “On behalf of the CHSL and the Archdiocese of Detroit, I am thrilled to welcome Lumen Christi, its dedicated student athletes, and its proud athletic tradition into our league,” said Vic Michaels, director of the CHSL. “We expect this change will benefit our existing private and faith-based members, some of whom have had to travel very long distances, farther than Jackson, in order to fill their sporting schedules. “We’re also glad to give Lumen Christi…

Reynolds Wins TOC; Risner, Clark Named Jackson Area Players of the Year

By Jeff Steers JTV Sports (September 14, 2022 10:18 AM) Nick Reynolds fired a 4-under-par 68 on Sunday to claim the Tournament of Champions at Arbor Hills Golf Club. It was the first major local title for Reynolds, who finished runner-up in the Jackson City Championship this year. Greg Zeller finished second with a 70, and Brogan Brockie was next another two strokes back in the field of 12 of the city's top players of 2022.  Cannon Risner has captured the Player of the Year honors for his performance in tournament play in 2022. Risner totaled 750 points on the Player of the Year Honor Roll, highlighted by a victory in the Lyle Ambs Memorial, a fourth-place finish in the Jackson Masters and a semifinal berth in the Jackson City Championship. Zach DeFrain finished second on the Honor Roll, and Nick Reynolds climbed into third by winning the Tournament of Champions.  Andrea Clark edged Kamryn Shannon for another Jackson Area Player of the Year award.  Clark finished with 900 points and Shannon tallied 895. Volleyball Columbia Central 3, Clinton 0: Jadyn Richardson tallied 14 kills and two blocks for Columbia Central. Allie Jarchow finished with six blocks, Ava Lyke tallied 15 digs and four aces, and Berlynn Lyke finished with 25 assists for the Golden Eagles.   Springport 3, Concord 0: Iyla Weeks finished with nine kills and a block for Concord. Autumn Cornell finished with 15 digs and Layla Hellard finished with 15 assists for the Yellow Jackets.  Vandercook Lake 3, East Jackson 0 Michigan Center 3, Hanover-Horton 1: Sam Wynn finished with 25 kills as Michigan Center earned a home conference win. Kaylee Johnson recorded 30 digs, Jordyn Mees dished 31 assists, and Elianna Noll scored 17 service points with four aces for the Cardinals. Natalee Krage finished with 32 assists, Chelsea Russ scored 11 kills and three blocks, and Hadlie Barber finished with 10 digs for Hanover-Horton.  Napoleon 3, Grass Lake 0: The Pirates are now 9-3-1 with the Cascades Conference win.
