Brockie Claims State Golf Title

Photo: Jeff Steers, JTV Sports By Jeff Steers JTV Sports Last year the Hanover-Horton High School varsity golf team won the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state team title. The Comets failed to qualify for the state meet as a team this season, but golfer Jack Brockie brought home more hardware for HHHS. Brockie, an individual qualifier, earned a state individual title Saturday shooting a 3-under par 69 to earn medalist honors by four strokes. He finished with a two-day total of 142. Brockie earned a top-10 medal and all-state considerations. Brockie was one of a number of Jackson-area golfers who played well at the Ferris State University golf course. Napoleon High School finished fourth as a team and Lumen Christi Catholic High School was sixth. The Pirates finished with a two-day total of 672, led by Evan Brzyski who shot rounds of 74 and 78 to finish seventh overall in the tournament.
