Jackson Area Career Center Hair & Fashion Show Announces Winners

(March 25, 2021 4:56 PM) The Jackson Area Career Center 11th Annual Hair and Fashion Show was held as a Facebook Live event Wednesday afternoon. The annual showcase and competition among 11th and 12th grade cosmetology students was attended by more than 500 people in this first-ever virtual presentation. Organizers termed the event a great success as emcee Joel Freehling introduced student competitors, interacted with the virtual audience and gave away gift baskets full of salon products to three viewers chosen at random during the show. Career Center Cosmetology Program instructors expressed how proud they were of all the students and the hard work they put into the show. Students displayed their work on mannequins; typically live models participate for the seniors’ showcase but due to COVID precautions, all students presented their work on mannequins. Three Area Teams Fall in Regional Wrestling

By Jeff Steers JTV Sports Napoleon High School wrestling Coach Carl Bunker told he wrestlers to go out and give it their best effort at the regional tournament at home on Wednesday. He felt as if the Pirates did that. But it didn’t necessarily show up on the scoreboard as No. 1 ranked Dundee won the regional final 82-0 against the Pirates. The Vikings will advance to the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 state finals next Tuesday. They will be attempting to win the school’s seventh state title in nine seasons. “Our wrestlers showed up and gave it out best effort tonight,” Bunker said. “We didn’t win … but we battled and represented ourselves well.” Napoleon started the night with a 60-18 win over Hillsdale in the regional semifinal.
