July 27 The Grand River Farmers Market is open today from 9 am until 2 pm at the corner of Louis Glick & Mechanic Street in Downtown Jackson.  The market features Michigan-grown produce; including fresh vegetables, fruits, organic goods, vegan cookies, muffins, granola, honey, jams, breads, pastas, jewelry, dog treats, salsas, fruit pies, sweet corn, tomatoes, hanging flower baskets, blueberries, maple syrup, chard, broccoli, peas, mums, and much more! Gigantic Sale for Missions.  Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church, M-60, Spring Arbor.  Sale Hours:  Friday, July 27, 9AM - 4PM, Saturday, July 28, 9AM - 11AM.  Friday clothing, shoes and bedding is $2/bag. Most other items inside will be BOGO free. Saturday all items inside are free.  All proceeds go to support missions work around the world and here in Jackson County! Allskate Fun Center will be hosting the MIS Consumers Energy 400 Pace Car from 1 PM to 4 PM. The Kiwanis Summer Kids Series presents “Son of Bigfoot” at The Michigan Theatre.   Admission is $1.00 Doors open one half hour before film.  11 AM and 2 PM.  Kids combos available for $4.00. Ella’s Patio Party presented by Rehmann.  Please join us at Ella Sharp Museum for Ella's Patio Parties with live music, appetizers from local favorites, and a cash bar. It's the perfect way to unwind on a summer evening with friends and family.  While you're here, you can explore the galleries to enjoy our rotating exhibits, stroll through our sculpture-filled grounds or enjoy a 6:30 p.m. planetarium show.  Ella's Patio Parties are Thursdays, 5:30-7:30 p.m., June 7-August 30. Patio Parties are free for members and $5 for non-members. All ages are welcome.  Entertainment tonight by Steve Trosin. Politics for the Environment.  7 pm - 8:45 pm, doors open at 6:30 for mingling & refreshments.  Presented by the Sierra Club Michigan Chapter.  Sierra Club speakers will include: Political Chair Richard Barron,  Political Director Mike Berkowitz, and Political Organizer Sarah Tresedder.   Learn how your lawmakers have been voting when it comes to protecting the environment, who Sierra Club has endorsed in your area, and what impact the 2018 elections will have on clean air, water, energy and natural resources. July 20 The 36th Anniversary of the Hot Air Jubilee begins today thru Sunday.  Hot air balloons will launch (weather permitting) from Ella Sharp Park on Friday Evening, Saturday morning, Saturday evening, and Sunday morning.  Throughout the event, come out the park and enjoy carnival rides, live entertainment, food vendors, Ella Sharp Museum, craft booths, the Kids Kingdom, a pilot meet and greet, and a car show. Be sure to stick around Friday and Saturday Evening for the Night Glow. Kiwanis Summer Kids Movie Series at the Michigan Theatre, downtown Jackson.  Today, “Sherlock Gnomes” at 11 AM and 2 PM.  Garden gnomes, Gnomeo & Juliet, recruit renowned detective Sherlock Gnomes to investigate the mysterious disappearance of other garden ornaments.  Admission is $1.00  Doors open one half hour before movie.  Film starts at 11:00 AM and 2 PM.  Kids combos available for $4.00. Family Night Concert Series at the Cascades. A wonderful way to spend a relaxing Wednesday night, enjoying great music and the beautiful Falls.  The Fossil Creek Band grew out of the farmlands of northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan back in the spring of 2006 and has since grown into one of the premier Bluegrass bands coming out of the Great Lakes region. The “Creekers” are known for their fun-loving, energetic performing style, tight harmonies and their original Bluegrass tunes.  Gates open at 7 PM.  $10 per family. Red Cross Blood Drive.12:00 pm – 5:45 pm.  Cornerstone Chrisitan Church, 2395 West High Drive.  Blood donations are typically down in summer, but the need never declines. Jeremy Patterson Boys Basketball Camp will be on July 16th, 17th, & 18th at the Middle School at Parkside Fieldhouse.  3rd through 5th grade will be from 5:30pm to 6:45pm and 6th through 8th grade will be from 6:45pm to 8:00pm! The goal of this 3 Day Camp is to prepare you for the upcoming season. learn proper techniques and the fundamentals of basketball from a knowledgeable coach.
