JTV Wins MarCom Awards for Websites, TV Programs

MarCom Awards today announced winners for the 2015 international awards competition that recognizes outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals.  JTV, Jackson, MI received Platinum and Gold awards for both website design and television programs.  JTV was awarded Platinum for The Loyal Handyman General Contracting website, Gold for the JTV.TV website and Gold for "True Story", The Cascades Falls episode. Honorable mentions were awarded for the Jackson Anchor Initiative website and for "Art Beat", Ave Veneklasen feature segment on "SoundWave".  There were over 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada and 15 other countries in the 2015 competition. MarCom entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and television networks. The competition has grown to the largest of its kind in the world. A look at the winners shows a range in size from individual communicators to media conglomerates and Fortune 500 companies. MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand creative professionals. The Association oversees awards and recognition programs, provides judges and sets standards for excellence. Coney Island Hot Dog History Featured on New JTV Series

JTV, the Jackson, Michigan television station announces the premiere of a new monthly series: “True Story” Friday, June 26 at 3:30, 7:30 and 10:30pm. “True Story” will explore the long-told stories of Jackson’s notorious personalities, urban legends and unique history in a new half hour series that will include first-person accounts, archival footage and historic photographs. The first episode in the new series explores the history of the Coney Island Hot Dog and confirms the long-held belief that the Coney Island was invented in Jackson in 1914. The program features interviews with Richard Todoroff and Tommy Boadgieff, relatives of the Coney inventor along with Eli Potter, proprieter of Virginia Coney Island. Jackson’s history as a railroad hub attracted many immigrants eager to begin a new life in a prosperous and bustling metropolis. The railroad traffic inspired several new residents to open restaurants to meet the needs of hungry travelers and rail workers.
