(August 10, 2023 6:46 PM ET) A back-nine rally by Brian Coon led to a win over defending champion Zach DeFrain in the Jackson City Golf Championship at Cascades Golf Course.
Coon birdied four holes on the back nine to shoot a 31 coming in.
He advanced to the semifinal match against Bret Valkuchak on Friday.
The other semifinal is Cody Lysher vs. Rob Longbrake. The winners of the semifinal matches will face off Saturday in a 36-hole final.
The 36-hole final is scheduled to begin Saturday morning at Cascades.
Here are the results in the quarterfinal round on Thursday.

Cody Lysher def. Tom Butterfield, 2 up: Lysher shot a 3-under-par 34 on the front nine taking a three-hole lead into the back nine. Both golfers shot even-par 35s on the back nine. Lysher finished with a score of 69 for the quarterfinal match.
Brian Coon def. Zach DeFrain, 1 up: DeFrain appeared to be in control of the match after shooting a 4-under-par 33 on the front side. But Coon turned it on with four birdies on the back nine to shoot a 31 carding a 68 for the day. DeFrain was the defending champion in the tournament.
Rob Longbrake def. Greg Zeller, 2 & 1: The two players were tied at the end of nine holes after both shooting 3-under-par 34s. Longbrake finished with a 32 on the back and shot a 66 for the day. Zeller carded a 68 in the quarterfinal match.
Bret Valkuchak def. Nick Henman, 4 & 2: Both players shot 1-over-par 38 on the front nine and were tied going into the back nine. Valkuchak was 2-under-par when the match ended on hole No. 16.
