The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is closing both directions of M-106 (Cooper Street) to allow crews to safely rebuild the Cooper Street bridge. This work is part of the ongoing I-94 Corridor Project.

Cooper Street will close at the I-94 overpass starting Tuesday, March 12 at 6 AM.  It will remain closed until mid-September, 2019.

A temporary signal will be installed at the southbound US-127/Parnall Road interchange until M-106 is reopened in September.

Cooper Street will be closed over I-94 at the eastbound and westbound ramps. The posted detour will include Parnall Road, US-127, US-127 Business Route (West Avenue), and I-94 Business Loop (Michigan Avenue)/Louis Glick Highway.

Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.

The new Cooper Street bridge will be a part of the rebuilt and redesigned I-94/Cooper Street interchange that will include new roundabouts on each side of the bridge. These roundabouts will allow traffic to operate more smoothly and efficiently, and increase safety with fewer conflict points. For more information about roundabouts, go to www.Michigan.gov/Roundabouts.
