(April 13, 2020 9:33 PM) The Jackson Community Foundation has announced an additional grant of $25,000 has been made to the COVID-19 Response Fund. Monica Moser, President & CEO, had previously presented United Way of Jackson County’s Ken Toll with a $5,000 grant to kick off the Fund. The Fund was created jointly between the two organizations to address the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak in Jackson County.

“We are fortunate to have so many organizations and individuals that care deeply for the welfare of our citizens. We have already received generous donations from the Consumers Energy Foundation, Dawn Foods Corporate Giving Program, MACI, Meijer, and ALRO Foundation to name a few. The Fund has received over $240,000 in donations to date, but the need is much greater. We hope this grant inspires other organizations and individuals to continue the momentum and donate,” said Moser, “At the Jackson Community Foundation, we are closely monitoring the effects of COVID-19 on Jackson County and will adjust our future grantmaking based on our community’s needs.”

“The power of partnership has never been more visible than right now. United Way is profoundly grateful to the Jackson Community Foundation for their support and

collaboration as together we help Jackson County respond to the COVID-19 crisis in meaningful ways,” said Toll.

The Jackson Community Foundation and United Way of Jackson County are part of the Jackson COVID-19 Action Network (JCAN) a network of over 25 organizations and individuals working together to address the immediate needs of our residents in Jackson County.

Downtown Power Outage

Areas of Downtown Jackson remain without power this morning (including JTV).  Consumers Energy says a cable fault in a vault failed last night and that damaged other critical infrastructure.  Consumers Energy crews are working on repairs. The estimated restoration time is 10 AM.  JTV is off-air until power returns.
