Jackson County Fair.  Pay One Price Day-Bracelets $30.  Veterans Day, Veterans admitted free.  Schedule:  9 AM Open Beef Show, 11 AM Cornhole Contest, 1 PM 4-H Small Animal Livestock Buyers Luncheon, 2 PM 4-H Animal Auction.  2 PM Bingo Tent opens, 2 PM Rides open, 5 PM Bad Mojo on Keeley Stage.  5 PM Hospitality Tent opens, 7 PM Grandstand Show:  Twisted P Rodeo.

Grand River Farmers Market.  9 AM to 2 PM.  Corner of Glick and Mechanic Streets, Downtown Jackson.  Local farmers, fresh produce, crafts, plants, flowers and vendors.

Late Night Friday at Sandhill Crane Vineyards.  Tonight featuring Chris Canas, playing live from 6-9 pm. Artist Reception.  6 PM – 9 PM.  Mixed, Tones and More – Art Show by Chris Blank.  ART 634, 634 N. Mechanic Street.  Join us on August 12th for the opening artist reception for Mixed, Tone and More, an art show created by Chris Blank. Chris is a self-taught artist living in his hometown of Jackson, Michigan.  Painting, and creating have always been a part of his life. Mixed-media on canvas is his passion, but he does on occasion deviate to just acrylic.  Chris’s work is mainly contemporary both on canvas and on paper. Although other descriptions of his work include modern, contemporary & collage; he also paints landscapes, and impressionistic as well as still life. There are no restrictions to his creative process…it is all in his mood.  This art show will continue through September 3rd, with viewing hours Wednesday through Saturday from 11 am until 7 pm.

Anything Goes at Croswell. August 12-21.  This classic musical about madcap antics aboard a transatlantic ocean liner features some of Cole Porter’s most memorable tunes, including the title number, “You’re the Top,” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.”The Croswell is located at 129 E. Maumee in downtown Adrian.  For tickets, call 517-264-7469 or visit croswell.org  Friday at 7:30 PM, Saturday at 2:30 PM and 7:30 PM, Sunday at 2:30 PM.

August 13

USA Demolition Derby.  7:00 PM.  GATES OPEN AT 6:00PM.  Auto cross followed by a derby.  $10 grandstand seats, $15 box seats.  Jackson County Fair.

Birds, Blooms & Butterflies Festival.  9 AM – 3 PM.  The Dahlem Environmental Education Center, 7117 S Jackson Rd, Jackson.  The 14th Annual Birds, Blooms, and Butterflies Festival will include a wide variety of outdoor learning opportunities and activities for all ages.  Come join us for a live birds of prey program by Michigan Avian Experience, environmental education programs about; birds, blooms, butterflies, mushrooms, honeybees and pollinators, etc., nature walks, native plants and bird seed sales, craft vendors, children’s crafts and activities, live music, food truck, JDL Bookmobile, and more. It’s a festival day at Dahlem!  Tickets:  Individual registrations are $7/$5 members.  Family reservations are $20/$15 members.

Capital City Brass Band Outdoor Concert.  Outdoor concert (indoors in the event of inclement weather) and Ice Cream Social at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 3637 Spring Arbor Rd, Jackson.  2:30 pm – Ice Cream Social.  3:00 pm – Concert with the Capital City Brass Band.  The Capital City Brass Band recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, and over those years the band has garnered high praise and two national championships in the competitions of the North American Brass Band Association. The social and concert are free, with donations being accepted for the CCBB. Music director Jim Otto will lead the ensemble as families and friends enjoy our beautiful grounds and great ice cream.  Grab those blankets and folding chairs, grab a piece of real estate, and enjoy a great afternoon with family, friends, and the Capital City Brass Band. This is a Free event-but donations for the CCBB (Capital City Brass Band) are welcome. 

Running Through The Vines.  Join Sandhill Crane Vineyards on August 13, 2022 in the naturally calming and stunning landscape of Sandhill Crane Vineyards just 20 miles west of Ann Arbor for this summer favorite! Friends, running, a beautiful course, and a finish in the vineyards that includes, music, cheese, and chocolate paired perfectly with … wine!  Overall awards to first male and female based on gun time. Antique Tractor, Truck, and Farm Equipment Show.  Waterloo Farm and Dewey School Museum, 13493 Waterloo Munith Rd, Grass Lake  Saturday and Sunday 10 AM – 5 PM.  This event is a gathering of vintage farm machinery, that replaced the horse of the 1800’s.  There will be Vendors and Demonstrators on the grounds along with all the great tractors and other machinery to experience.  The 1850s ten room farm house will be open for tours for a small fee of $3.00 a person. Concessions will be available on the grounds. There will also be assorted vendors and demonstrators. Wagon rides will be available.

Back to School Bash.  4 – 6 PM.  The Arbor Church, 120 E. Main Street, Spring Arbor.  Families are invited to join us for our special end-of-the-year party, Back to School Bash! We hope to see you as we celebrate the return to school with inflatables, water games, back-to-school goodies, food, and more!

Swingin’ at the Shell.  6 PM.  Tonight featuring Country performer Drew Hale.  Swingin’ at the Shell is a FREE concert series for the Albion and surrounding communities.  The Swingin’ at the Shell annual concert series takes place in Albion’s beautiful and historic Victory Park Band Shell!  Come out and enjoy some good old-fashioned summertime fun!  The concert series is FREE and open to the public thanks to the following generous sponsors: Caster Concepts, Parks Drug Store, Team 1 Plastics, and the Albion Community Foundation.
