Grand Rivers Farmers Market.  The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the Grand River Farmers Market.  Local produce, crafts, flowers, plants, baked goods and more.  9 AM to 2 PM Friday and Saturday.  Corner of Glick and Mechanic, along the Grand River.  Please practice social distancing and wear a mask.  Every Friday and Saturday through October.

“Popcorn Drive Up Pick Up” Sponsored by Bob’s Country Store. Pull up on Mechanic Street (under the Michigan Theatre Marquee) between 5:00 and 6:30 P.M.  For your Free Box (or boxes) of Michigan Theatre POPCORN!

Fair Food!  Jackson County Fair is presenting a Fair Food – Food Truck Rally.  Enjoy all your favorite fair foods and treats at Keeley Park.  This is a drive thru event and everyone stays in the car with order-takers greeting drivers.  Friday and Saturday, 11 AM to 7 PM.   Vendors include:  DJ Concessions, Boy Scouts, Beach Concessions, Mays Concessions, Mary’s Ears, Fiske, and Stu’s Concessions.

AWARE Virtual Scavenger Hunt.  August 7th, 12 Noon to 4:30 PM.  Teams cost $200 with up to 8 players.  Businesses and families are welcome to compete!  To register, visit awareshelter.org.  All proceeds benefit AWARE.  The team with the most points wins a cash prize of $300.

Cascades Humane Society Community Yard Sale.  August 7, 8 and 9th.  Now accepting donations and bottles for return.  Cascades Humane Society, 1515 Carmen Drive, Jackson.

The Cascades Rotary Community Bandshell presents Summer Concert Series.  Saturday, August 8:  Trent Harris performs with his organ quartet.  Free admission.  Please bring a blanket or lawn chair to sit on.  7 PM.

Red Cross Blood Drives. The American Red Cross is now testing all blood, platelet and plasma donations for COVID-19 antibodies. The antibody test used by the Red Cross is authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and may indicate if the donor’s immune system has produced antibodies to the coronavirus, regardless of whether they developed symptoms.  At the same time, there continues to be an urgent need for blood donations after hospital demand for blood products increased in recent weeks.

Jackson YMCA Outdoor Exercise Classes.  Join the outdoor group exercise classes at the downtown Jackson YMCA.  Free for members, $5 for most classes for non-members.  Bring a mat, water bottle and towel.  Complete schedule at jacksonymca.org

Salvation Army Food Pantry.  The Salvation Army of Jackson County Food Pantry Hours:  Regular Pantry Hours are 10 am-noon and 1-2 pm Monday through Thursday.  Food Boxes are available every 30 days.*In an emergency food may be provided from 2-4:30 pm -please call ahead – 517-782-7185.  The Fresh Food Initiative (FFI) starts July 13 and is every Monday from 9-10:30 am -through September 28. FFI is closed on Labor Day.  FFI is available to any one in need – please bring ID.
