Red Cross Blood Drives.  Following record-breaking cold and winter storms that forced the cancellation of more than 10,000 blood and platelet donations in parts of the U.S. in February, the American Red Cross is urging healthy individuals, especially those with type O blood, to give now to ensure blood products are available for patient emergencies when help can’t wait. Every day thousands of patients rely on lifesaving blood donations. The need for blood is constant, even during snowstorms and the COVID-19 pandemic. To help ensure lifesaving patient care isn’t impacted, individuals in areas unaffected by severe weather are urged to make appointments to donate by downloading the Red Cross Blood Donor App, visiting RedCrossBlood.org, calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or enabling the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device.

MyPlace Jackson Open House.  9:30-11 AM & Noon-3:00 PM.  406 S. Blackstone, Jackson.    MyPlace Jackson is rental living space for youth 16 through 21 who are aging out of foster care or can be placed in independent living.  Our mission is to reduce the vulnerability for exploitation by offering safe transitional housing and holistic support services to youth and young adults in the Greater Jackson area with a preference to those in vulnerable circumstances.   Through community-based action and partnership with others, we will offer new futures by transitioning these youths to self-sufficiency.  Statistics demonstrate that many youth caught in Human Trafficking have a past of being in child welfare system.  These statistics are helpful in understanding the situation in our nation and our community but we never lose sight of the fact that each youth we seek to serve is an individual. Each has their own unique story and history. Each of them have the potential to thrive and excel in life. It is our goal to walk with them on their unique journey.
