The Mighty Naturalist.  9:30 AM. How Animals Survive in Winter Program is for children ages 1-5 years old attending with an adult caregiver.  Program Description: What are some actions nature takes and why to survive winter?  We will explore and learn about hibernation, migration and adaptation.  Monarchs fly to Mexico, Groundhog goes to bed, and Weasel changes his wardrobe!  Find out how other animals cope with winter’s worst weather.  We will spend time outdoors seeking clues before heading into the classroom for stories, hands-on activities and craft time.  Advanced Registration Required. Please register online at www.dahlemcenter.org/events or call 517-782-3453 to reserve your spot for you and your mighty naturalist(s).

JLG at 127 Brewing.  John Louis Good & The Rose City Troubadours return to 127 Brewing on Friday January 27th for their “9th Anniversary Party”. Performance time is 6pm-9pm.  127 Brewing Co., 3090 Shirley Drive, Jackson.

 Did an Asteroid Really Kill the Dinosaurs?  Did a space rock six miles wide slam into the Earth 66 million years ago and wipe out 75 percent of all living species at that time, including the dinosaurs? Showtimes:  Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 4pm;  Saturday & Sunday 1pm & 3pm.  Tickets are first come first serve available in the Hurst Planetarium or the Museum Front Desk.  Ella Sharp Museum, Hurst Planetarium.  

Dinosaur Safari Exhibit at Ella Sharp Museum.  Dinosaur Safari, an immersive exhibit for children and families now open at the Ella Sharp Museum. The nearly 2,500-square-foot exhibit features seven animatronic dinosaurs as well as hands-on stations that help children imagine themselves as paleontologists.  The incredible world of Dinosaur Safari features colorful and life-like dinosaurs, including the Triceratops and T. Rex!  In addition to the dinosaurs that move and roar, there is one climbable dinosaur for children to explore. Designed to immerse children in a world of dinosaurs and paleontology, children can play dress up in a safari tent, pretend to drive a safari jeep, and uncover large realistic fake fossils in two dig stations. The imaginative traveling exhibit is produced by Omaha Children’s Museum.  Open during museum hours.

Chili Golf Classic.  The 37th Annual Kiwanis Chili Golf Classic will take place on Saturday, January 28 at Hankerd Hills.  For reservations and confirming tee times call Chandra Howard 517-945-8409.  Tee times from 9 AM to 12 PM.  Door prizes, 50-50 drawings, trophies.  Enjoy chili, brats and hot dogs while you play a special short course at Hankerd Hills, 10251 Resort Road, Pleasant Lake.  Pay at the course:  $35 for 9 holes, $45 for 18 holes.  Just bring 2 clubs, balls are provided.  

2023 Polar Plunge to Benefit Special Olympics Michigan.  12:30 -3 PM.  Eagle’s Nest Bar & Grill, 1200 Eagle Point Rd, Clarklake.  12:30pm – Plunge Check-In Opens & Pre-Plunge Party! Turn in cash & check donations, get your incentives, prepare to plunge.  2pm – Plunge into Clark Lake! Plungers will walk ON the ice out to a hole cut by the Columbia Township Dive Team, who will be there to assist you out of the water..  All spectators should remain on shore and on the restaurant patio.  After-Splash Bash & Awards.  Lunch is included for all plungers who raise $100+.  Drinks (& Lunch for spectators) available for purchase on-site.  Event page here.

Game On presents – Efren Reyes.  6 PM to 10 PM.  Game On, 1715 E Michigan Ave, Jackson.  Game On will be hosting Efren “Bata” Reyes, a celebrity in the pool and billiard world at Game On, January 28th. Efren is known across the globe as the Greatest of All Time (GOAT). Efren Reyes has agreed to do a little tour in our area after the Derby City Classic completes at the end of January in southern Indiana.  Event page here.

2023 Cotton Tail Challenge.  Let’s get those rascally rabbits! Join us for the annual Cotton Tail Challenge!  7 AM – 4 PM.  Grass Lake Sportsmans Club, 13505 Leach Rd, Grass Lake.  Check out our event page for information and register on-line, in-person, the morning of the event.  2-Person Teams, Small Game Michigan License Required.  Food and fellowship provided after weighing.  Raffles & 50/50 at the club.  Come meet some of the members of the Warrior’s Shooting Team.

Meet the 2023 Artists at Essa Arts.  1 PM.  Welcoming 2023 this year with 10 brilliant artists of Jackson.
