Community Assistance Informational Series.  11:30 am – 12:30 pm. January is National Poverty Awareness Month. Are you in need of resources and don’t know where to start? Join us at the Carnegie Library and meet with representatives from several community organizations dedicated to helping out the Jackson County community  Each week will have a different organization that works with different needs, and informational handouts will be available for patrons to take with them. Sessions will take place in the McIntyre Room, Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library.  January 23: Interfaith Shelter.  

Jackson College Winter Film Series:  “Kiss Me Deadly”. 7:15 PM.   In this 1955 adaptation of Mickey Spillane’s novel, directed by Robert Aldrich, the good manners of the 1950s are blown to smithereens. Ralph Meeker stars as snarling private dick Mike Hammer, whose decision one dark, lonely night to pick up a hitchhiking woman sends him down some terrifying byways. Brazen and bleak, Kiss Me Deadly is a film noir masterwork as well as an essential piece of cold war paranoia, and it features as nervy an ending as has ever been seen in American cinema.  Doors open at 6:30 pm. Auditorium doors open at 7 pm. Film begins at 7:15 pm. Admission is $5.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Closet Re-Do:  Reduce, Resuse, Restore.  6:00 pm – 7:00 pm.  January is Get Organized Month! Join us on January 23 at 6 PM at the Brooklyn Branch, Jackson District Library, to learn how to organize your closet and revamp your wardrobe.  Get ready to:  Get more mileage out of what you wear  Investigate your own capsule wardrobe and fill gaps with confidence, and organize your closet so you know what you own and can access what you need.  Presented by Leigh MacCready, professional organizer and owner of Re-Nest in Jackson.

Mid Michigan Foster Parent Orientation – IN PERSON.  5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.  Join us to learn more about becoming a foster parent in Mid-Michigan! A 2-hour orientation will give you all you need to take the next steps!
