Jackson College Winter Film Series. “The Farewell”.  The Farewell is a 2019 American comedy-drama film written and directed by Lulu Wang. It stars Awkwafina, Tzi Ma, Diana Lin, Zhao Shuzhen, Lu Hong, and Jiang Yongbo. The film follows a family who, upon learning their grandmother has only a short while left to live, decide not to tell her and schedule a family gathering before she dies.  Doors open at 6:30 P.M. Film Starts at 7:15 P.M. Admission is 5 Dollars.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Red Cross Blood Drive.  9 a.m. – 2:45 p.m., Hanover Horton High School, 10000 Moscow Road, Horton.  The American Red Cross has extended its urgent call for donors of all blood types to give blood or platelets. With influenza escalating across the country and preventing some donors from giving, and winter weather threatening to cancel blood drives, the Red Cross now has a critical shortage of type O blood and urgently needs donors to restock the shelves.

Dinner Cabaret Auditions.  Monday January 27:  7:00pm-9:00pm
Tuesday January 28:  7:00pm-9:00pm.  Singers only need to attend one audition and are welcome to drop by when they are able!  Jackson’s First Presbyterian Church, 743 W. Michigan Ave. Jackson.  Singers should use the parking lot behind the church and follow the yellow signs to the southwest door (left of the playground).   Center Stage Jackson. 

Healthy Living Series.  The series of classes will provide the education and tools you need to help maintain healthy goals.  Intro to the program, tracking food and exercise, eating well, becoming more active, shopping and cooking, finding time for fitness, dining out sensibly, taking charge of your thoughts/stress management, food triggers and mindful eating  Registration is required for this series. You can register online or at 734-593-5280.  This series is presented by St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea and is held at the Jackson YMCA, Downtown Jackson.  Program runs from 6:15 PM to 7:15 PM.  Prizes will be awarded at each class.

More than a Headwrap Exhibit.  In celebration of African American History Month, join us at the Carnegie Library from now through February 1 to experience the history of headwrapping. This will include photos and banners that show the cultural history and importance of the headwrap.  This exhibit is in conjunction with the More than a Headwrap program on February 1.
