Ballot Initiative Town Hall hosted by State Senator Mike Shirkey.  Questions or concerns about the ballot initiatives? Senator Shirkey will be presenting vital information regarding what will be on YOUR ballot this fall. Constitution Day at Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library.  All day.  Learn about the November 6 ballot issues and candidates.  Check voter registration status and receive goodies at service desks.  Enter to win raffle when checking out government documents.  All ages welcome.

Constitution Day panel discussion at 3 p.m. Sept. 17 in Bert Walker Hall, Room 145, on Jackson College’s Central Campus.  Student Ombudsman Jessica Houston will moderate a panel discussion on voting, and panel members will include:  Jackson Mayor Derek Dobies,  Dr. Anthony Cleveland, associate professor of psychology, Bobby Beauchamp, director of Prison Education Initiative, Elaine Themm, history lead faculty and Hakim Crampton, local poet, author and speaker.  In addition to the panel discussion, the League of Women Voters will offer voter registration on site. Copies of a pocket-sized Constitution will be offered free to all who attend. Refreshments will be provided. College and community members welcome.

State Representative Julie Alexander is hosting office hours today from 9 AM to 10 Am.  Jackson County Tower Building, First Floor, 120 West Michigan Avenue. 

Red Cross Blood Drive.  First Presbyterian Church, 743 West Michigan Avenue,  Jackson.  11 AM to 4:45 PM.  As summer winds down, the American Red Cross urges individuals to give blood now and help end an emergency summer blood shortage that began last month.

Red Cross Blood Drive.  Heart ‘O the Lakes, 7031 Jefferson Road, Clarklake. The American Red Cross urges people of all races and ethnicities to give blood to help ensure a diverse blood supply for patients in need.  12 PM to 5:45 PM.

Tobacco Free Support Group. The Jackson Tobacco Reduction Coalition and the Smoke Free Health Action Team are pleased to promote the services of a new FREE peer led support group in Jackson County.  This support group is designed for those who are interested in becoming tobacco free and those who have already quit and want to remain tobacco free.  If you are interested in going to a support group where you can share your thoughts and feelings about trying to quit in a safe and confidential space, this is the spot for you.  Plan to join this support group which meets Every Monday evening 7 PM to 8:30 PM, Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library, Downtown Jackson.

Yoga at the Meijer Branch, Jackson District Library.  Join us at the Meijer Branch! Stop by the Meijer Branch every Monday and Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., and Friday at 8:30 a.m. and let Jeanette Lamphere teach you yoga. Suggested donation of $3. Intended for adults.
