Carnegie Library Open House.  Celebrate the start of the holiday season at the Carnegie Library Holiday Open House before the City of Jackson Christmas Parade!  Santa is sending his elves to deliver books this year to children who come to visit during the open house. There will be a holiday photo opportunity and the Friends of the Jackson District Library will host their annual book sale and bake sale.  The open house will run 4-6:30 PM, closing after the start of the parade at 6 PM.

Downtown Jackson Christmas Parade.  6 PM.  Along Michigan Avenue in Downtown Jackson.  Lighted floats, bands, marchers, Santa Claus, and more in this annual tradition welcoming in the Christmas Season.  Free showing of The Polar Express at the Michigan Theatre (at 7:30 PM) to follow parade.  Parade ends at the corner of East Michigan and Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, in front of One Energy Plaza.  Follow Santa along the lighted Riverwalk to the Riverwalk Amphitheater.   An outdoor meet and greet with Santa follows the parade!

Live Music at Jackson Coffee Company.  Every Friday evening, enjoy free entertainment on our 2nd floor, featuring popular local and regional acts.  Tonight, Open Mic Night.  7 to 10 PM.  Jackson Coffee Company, corner of Mechanic and Cortland Streets, Downtown Jackson.

ARTitude.  ARTitude is an annual pop-up holiday marketplace and we will be open again starting November 19, 2021 at the Masonic Temple, 145 W. Cortland in Downtown Jackson. We offer a booth-style marketplace for artists to display and sell their work throughout the Holiday season. The marketplace will be open for business starting Friday, November 19th through Friday, December 24th. Our regular hours will be Tuesdays through Saturdays 11a.-7p. and Sundays 11a.-4p.

Pink Friday Downtown Shopping Event.  Let’s talk about PINK FRIDAY!  10 am – 6 pm.  Downtown Jackson, MI.  This is one HUGE day to #shopsmallfirst – before Black Friday in Downtown Jackson.  This is a day to encourage shoppers like YOU to #shopsmallfirst, before the craziness on Black Friday. This year, many of the businesses in Jackson will have various specials to get your holiday shopping started.  Mark your calendar! This will be a fun day! The Christmas Parade (6:00 pm) is that evening too, so you’ll be able to kick off your holiday season in the best way possible in Downtown Jackson, MI! Each store will post their special at their own will and some may be surprises!

Birthbrite Community Donation Drive-In.  The mission of Birthbrite is to deliver hope and joy to children in foster care.  Birthbrite stocks a wide variety of items for children and families in their foster care closet.  Items are then provided to foster care children and families free of charge.  Items being accepted November 15 to December 6.  Suggested donations (new items only please):  diapers, baby hygiene products, clothing, shoes, children’s underwear, children’s books, sensory/fidget toys, bath towels, toys.  Donations can be dropped off at Callaghan’s Coffee Cafe, 109 S. Main Street, Brooklyn;  Jaxon’s Playhouse, Summit Oaks Mall, Ferguson Road;  Doll n’ Burgers, 323 South Cooper, Jackson.

Nite Lites Christmas 5K Fun Run and Walk.  The magic of the Jackson Nite Lites Christmas Display RETURNS and gets bigger and better!  After a year of rest, this family tradition celebrates its 7th year anniversary, its 4th year at Michigan International Speedway and the 2021 season promises to be brighter than ever with the 7th Annual Nite Lites Christmas 5K Fun Run/Walk.  6:00PM 5K Fun Run, 6:30PM 5K Walk.  The animated course will once again be offered to registered 5K Fun Run/Walk participants before automobile traffic is permitted! Register HERENiteLites5K@gmail.com

Elvis Night at the Commonwealth.  7 PM to 11 PM.  Elvis has NOT left the building, folks! In fact, there’s going to be plenty of Elvis at the Commonwealth Commerce Center on November 20th as we bring you “Elvis Night at the Commonwealth” part of our “Chronicles of the King” fundraising event!Elvis Night at the Commonwealth will feature an entire evening centered around the King of Rock N Roll, Mr. Elvis Aaron Presley!  Highlights of the evening include:  LIVE PERFORMANCE BY MATT KING! – Nationally renowned Elvis impersonator Matt King will be performing LIVE for your entertainment!  ELVIS KARAOKE CONTEST – ELVIS COSTUME CONTEST – Dress like a king in our Elvis Costume Contest!!!  ELVIS TRIVIA CONTEST – Do you think you know the most about Elvis? A Very Electric Christmas.  LIGHTWIRE THEATRE Presents “A Very Electric Christmas”  Sunday, Nov. 21, 3:00 PM.  People of all ages will be captivated by the dazzling visuals and unique cast of characters that magically appear out of the darkness.  Follow the story of a young bird named Max and his family, as they begin their journey south for the winter.  When Max gets blown off course and ends up at the North Pole, his adventure begins!  Dancing toy soldiers, caroling worms and performing poinsettias light up the stage.  Combining the arts of puppetry, theatre and dance with the music of timeless holiday hits, this magical and captivating tale of family, friendship and hope creates a truly one-of-a-kind, inspired and exhilarating holiday experience.  TICKET INFORMATION:  Section A $32; B $30; C $20; 12 and under $10  Jccmi.edu/pottercenter/ticket-information/ or 517-796-8600.

 Planetarium Show: Mayan Archaeoastronomy.  In a feast of colours and sounds, Mayan Archaeoastronomy: Observers of the Universe makes a tour of 6 Mayan temples: San Gervasio, Chichen Itzá, Uxmal, Edzná, Palenque and Bonampak where the spectator dives into a Mayan world of knowledge about the importance of the orientations of its temples in relation to the movement of some stars like the Sun, the Moon and Venus.
