Red Cross Blood Drive 9 a.m. – 2:45 p.m., Hanover Horton High School, 10000 Moscow Road. Donors of all blood types are needed to help ensure a sufficient supply this fall, especially after Hurricane Florence and Hurricane Michael forced the cancellation of thousands of blood drives in the past month.

The family friendly Corn Maze at Heritage Park will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon until 6pm in October beginning Saturday, October 6. The cost for the maze is $4.00 with 5 and under admitted free. This includes a wagon ride around the park’s 80 acres! On October 13 from 7-11 there will be a pancake breakfast featuring Heritage Park Sugar Shack maple syrup. The cost will be $6 with those under 5 eating free. That afternoon the price of the corn maze will be $2.00 with a food donation for the Hanover Community Food Bank. One donation for each discounted ticket. In addition to the corn maze there will be food and drinks. A bonfire will be burning to cook hot dogs, s’mores or to just warm your hands. Heritage Park, Hanover.
Military Rites and Service. 2nd Lt. Elwood Ray Bailey is coming home after 75 years. The Full Military Rites and Service will be conducted today at 1 PM at Chapel Cemetery in Parma by the Chaplain and the Ritual team of the United States Marine Corps. In April 2015, the remains of Lt. Bailey were discovered in the Solomon Islands. He was a Marine aviator in World War II. A Parma native, Lt. Bailey will be buried next to his parents in Chapel Cemetery today after over 75 years.

Rollin’ with AARP Community Bike Ride. 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. AARP will be hosting a community bike ride in Sparks County Park and on the Intercity Trail to showcase one of Jackson’s age-friendly features. We want you to join the fun.
There will be parking off of Denton Road (between Kibby Rd. and Brown St.) in the park and the ride will start from there. The ride will be leisurely and for riders of all ability levels. Pumpkin Quest 2018. Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM Pumpkin Quest is a free festival for the entire family. We give away 500 pumpkins for a donation to our local food pantry. There are hay rides, make and take scarecrows, games, crafts, face painting, balloon animals, bouncy house and many more fun things throughout the day long event. 47th Annual Craft-A-Rama. 10 AM to 4 PM, American 1 Events Center, Jackson County Fairgrounds. Over 80 exhibitors with all items handcrafted and for sale. General admission is $2. Pioneer Day at Waterloo Farm Museum. Pioneer Day at Waterloo Farm Museum will take place on October 14, 2018 from Noon to 5 pm.
