Halloweentown.  The Jackson County Parks Department is presenting a new, first-time Halloween event at Keeley Park this fall. Scheduled for Friday, October 16th at 5:30 pm, Halloween town, is a safe and free, family-friendly Halloween event with Drive-Thru Trunk or Treat starting at 5:30 pm-7:30 pm, Costume Parade at 7:30 pm and a Drive-in Movie at 8 pm featuring Disney’s original Halloweentown. This event was made possible by the support of the following sponsors: Lester Brothers, Emmons Service, Phelps Towing, Meridian Concerts, American 1 Credit Union, and G Force Automotive. Due to the restrictions in place because of COVID-19 this will be a drive-thru event with the exception of the costume parade. Those participating in the costume parade will be spaced 6ft apart to maintain a safe distance. Anyone under the age of 15 is encouraged to sign up. Drive-In Movie.  Outdoor Family Move Night!  Movie: Frozen II.  Door Prize Drawings start at 7:45pm.  Movie starts at 8:00pm.  Spring Arbor Free Methodist Church.  Free, outdoor fun for the whole family! Join SAFMC in the back parking lot of the church to watch Frozen 2 on the big screen. Free popcorn!  Tickets for family fun prizes will be handed out once you arrive. DDA Fall Festival.  Pumpkin painting, cider/donuts, live music, and so much more. October 17 from 10 am – 12 pm at the Grand River Farmers Market.  Great fall produce and products from Grand River Farmers Market vendors.  Masks and social distancing required.   Lots of family fun! FREE for everyone! 

Rummage Sale. Calvary United Methodist Church.  Thursday and Friday 9 AM to 6 PM, Saturday 9 AM to 11 AM (11 AM to 12 Noon: FREE!)  Lansing Avenue Entrance.  Face masks and social distancing required.

Gilbert Chocolates Open House.  12 PM to 4 PM. 233 N. Jackson Street, Jackson.  Free samples, free coffee and tea, free sipping chocolate.  10% off all chocolates.  Celebrate Sweetest Day at the Sweet Soul of Jackson!

Free FAFSA Event.  Join the College and Career Access Center for FUN FALL AT THE CENTER.  In person and via Zoom.  Target Wing, Jackson Crossing.  11 AM to 7 PM.  COVID protocols (wear mask, social distancing, limited office capacity, 1 family member per student, at the door registration).  Items to provide:  Student and parent social security numbers, dates of birth, individual email addresses, 2019 tax information.  Free, accurate assistance!  Prizes for every student!  For Zoom:  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85155836348.  Meeting ID: 851 5583 6348

Free Food Distribution.  The Dungytreei Heritage Foundation is on the move to help end hunger by bringing a mobile food pantry distribution to provide for our community.  Schedule: Every third Saturday.  12:00-2:00 p.m.  Oasis of Love Full Gospel Church (parking lot), 800 S. Cooper Street, Jackson.  Eligibility Requirements: None.  You will be able to pick up free food such as meat, nutritious produce, and more! Simply drive up and a volunteer will load your vehicle for you. If you are homebound and/or if transportation is an issue and you need delivery, please don’t hesitate to call (517) 240-3511.

Believe Center Resale Shop Live Auction.  Join Believe Center for their live public auction. Believe Center is located at 745 Lansing Ave Jackson, MI between Ganson and North St. General auction viewing begins at 11am and the live auction will start at 12:15pm. Lots of various new and gently used items will be presented such as antiques, household, toys, tools, and more. John Carpenter will be the auctioneer.  Proceeds from the auction will bring financial relief to those with cancer in Michigan through Mission of Hope Cancer Fund, a non-profit.

Hanover-Horton Halloween.  Head to Heritage Park in Hanover-Horton October 17th and October 24th 12:00pm to 6:00pm for Halloween!  They will have an obstacle course, a scavenger hunt ,  a cupcake walk, games for the kids, craft kits for the kids to take home to complete, wagon rides, pumpkins for sale, free books (kids & adults while supplies last), a bonfire will be going so if you want to bring your own hot dogs to cook you can. They will have water, pop, S’more kits, and popcorn for sale.  All events will be held outdoors.  They will have the community cookbooks for sale ($5.00), Crouch Murder Mystery book,  and their world famous maple syrup. They also have a variety of pumpkins for sale (by donation), be sure to smile when you’re picking out your pumpkin.

Jackson Free Methodist Church Fall Festival.  Jackson Free Methodist Church will have lunch for everyone and pumpkin painting for the kids. Invite your friends!
