Jackson Story Fest.  The Jackson District Library presents the 32nd Annual Jackson Story Fest.  Free Finale tonight at the Michigan Theatre.  Premier storytellers Jeff Doyle and Jenifer Strauss.  7:30 PM, Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.  Free admission.

Grand River Farmers Market.  Grand River Farmers Market featuring local farmers and vendors offering fresh and local products, candles and soaps, and much more!  Apples, pumpkins, and squash are among the fall produce offerings this weekend.  9 am – 2 pm.  We accept cash, credit, checks, double up food bucks, wic project fresh, senior project fresh, and bridge cards!  See you at the market!

Red Cross Blood Drives.  During Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, the American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give blood or platelets to provide hope and healing to patients fighting cancer. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women, and more than 268,000 women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Here is today’s opportunity you have to donate blood to breast cancer patients:  9 a.m. – 2:45 p.m., Northwest High School, 4200 Van Horn Rd., Jackson.

Hidden Lake Gardens Fall Foliage Festival.  10 AM to 4 PM.  Pumpkin decorating, hands-on crafts, wagon rides, scarecrow displays, food vendors, artisans, mini petting zoo. live reptile and amphibian exhibit, Tecumseh District Library’s Pioneer Day.  Fun for the whole family!  $7 per person ($25 maximum per vehicle).  6214 Monroe Road, Tipton.

4H Craft and Vendor Show.  10 AM to 4 PM.  Free Admission.  Local Artisans and Vendors. Bake Sale Door Prizes Silent Auction. Handmade and locally crafted items.Direct Sales Vendors. Wood Working, Pet Accessories, Soap, Candles, Melts, Lotions, Decorations, and lots of Unique gifts. Music on Tap:  Bluegrass-ish.  8 PM, Weatherwax Hall.  The Jackson Symphony Orchestra  is proud to announce its Music on Tap opening concert. Bluegrass-ish featuring Flatland Harmony Experiment. Flatland Harmony Experiment is a high-octane, three-piece, vocally driven string band from Indianapolis, Indiana. FHE’s music and stage show drips with intensity and passion, and it is easy to tell they love what they do. The trio trades lead vocal and lead instrumental responsibilities through a large and diverse original musical pallet.  Opening act:  John Louis Good and the Rose City Troubadours.  Tickets are $15, 00 in advance and $20.00 at the door. Click here to purchase your tickets.

Hanover Heritage Park Corn Maze.  Hanover Heritage Park Corn Maze will once again be open every weekend in October (Saturdays and Sundays) from Noon to 6:00.   In honor of our new Monarch Way Station, the maze is a butterfly design.  $4 per person includes a wagon ride around the park as well as the corn maze.  Hot dogs, S’mores, and other goodies and drinks are available for purchase to enjoy around the campfire. 121 Tefft Street, Hanover.

Dahlem for Dogs.  The Dahlem Center in Jackson will host their second Dahlem for Dogs event on Sunday, October 20th from 1-3pm. Dahlem will host the Jackson County Animal Shelter at the Community Gardens and Ecology Farm off Wickwire Road. Adopt a dog, bring your dog, or volunteer to take one of the beautiful shelter dogs for a walk on the Butterfly Trail.  1 PM to 3 PM, Dahlem Center.

Vocal Point and Jackson Chorale Concert.  Jackson College is pleased to announce its new choral group, Vocal Point, will present its debut concert on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. Entitled “The Beautiful Union of Poetry and Music,” this collaboration concert alongside the Jackson Chorale will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 275 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson.  Vocal Point is comprised of 20 Jackson College students under the direction of instructor Dr. Richard Hintze. Hintze joins the music faculty at Jackson College this year after teaching for the last three years at Spring Arbor University.  Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and children. Third Sunday Music Series Halloween Edition.  Final 2019 3rd Sunday Music Show.  Free local music show!  Please dress up and head down for a costume contest with prizes!  Playing are:  Orbiters-Progressive jam, Command prompt- Experimental electric, Man & Moon- pop punk.  Halloween candy at the door and concessions will be open!  Michigan Theatre.  2 PM to 5 PM.

Night of Worship with Jared Anderson.  Radiant Church Jackson is excited to have national recording artist and songwriter, Jared Anderson, in concert at Radiant Church. He’s known for many great songs such as Great I Am, How He Loves, Amazed, and Glorified. Mark your calendars for an amazing night of worship on Sunday, October 20th.  Doors open at 5:30pm, the event starts at 6:00pm. The ticket price for this event is $5 for all ages.
