The Magic of Bill Blagg Live.  7:30 PM, Jackson College Potter Center.  Critics and audiences alike rave about Bill Blagg’s high-energy, grand-scale magic and illusion that will have you rubbing your eyes in disbelief. Called “simply amazing” by The Chicago Tribune, Blagg’s show is packed with new mind-blowing illusions and his trademark off-the-cuff personality, making this show a great family event! Audience volunteers will levitate in mid-air, others will vanish in the blink of an eye and so much more! Fill the Blue Bus.  The Jackson YMCA be taking the Blue Bus all over Jackson to collect items for our online auction. Bring anything you want to get rid of (big or small, as long as it’s in good condition) to our Blue Bus. We’ll auction everything in November, and proceeds go to help Y kids and families.  On Friday, you can find the Blue Bus at: Walton Insurance Group, Spring Arbor Road, from 10 AM to 12 N.  This is your chance to help a great cause!

Free Bach’s Lunch Series presented by the Community Music School of the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.   The series promotes classical music through free noontime concerts open to the public, featuring CMS students, faculty and guest artists.  Concerts also include demonstration and commentary given by professional musicians.  12 Noon, JSO Weatherwax Hall, Downtown Jackson.

Grand River Farmer’s Market.  Fresh local produce, crafts and other seasonal items.  Apples, vegetables, pumpkins and much more.  9 AM to 2 PM, corner of Mechanic and Louis Glick, downtown Jackson.

The Jackson District Library presents the 31st Jackson Storyfest  tonight with the finale celebration of Storyfest.  The Storytelling Showcase Event is free to the public at the Michigan Theatre in Downtown Jackson beginning at 7:30 p.m. Headliners for the show include gifted storytellers Judy Sima, Robin Nott, Jenifer Strauss, Adam Mellema and Corrine Stavish, who will also serve as emcee for the evening. This is a family event and all ages are welcome to attend.  The event is free, and is partially funded through a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs.

Craft, Flea Market, Antiques.  Believe Center presents another great show with dozens of vendors.  Special Made in Michigan section.  Friday 12 PM to 6 PM, Saturday 9 AM to 4 PM.  $2 entry at door.  Food and drink available and entertainment.  Vendor space still available, call 517-782-4643.  Believe Center, 745 Lansing Avenue, Jackson.  Proceeds benefit those with cancer.

Live Music at Jackson Coffee Company.  John Louis Good and the Rose City Troubadours.   John plays folk and country music around Michigan. He draws from folk ballads passed down from generation to generation, folk music of Woody Guthrie, the 60’s folk revival thanks to Bob Dylan, as well as all his traveling friends.  7 PM to 10 PM, Jackson Coffee Company, Downtown Jackson.

Escape from Haunted Carnegie.  Creep and crawl your way to the Carnegie Branch for a JDL-themed Escape Room!  You receive a mysterious invitation to spend the night at the famed haunted Carnegie mansion. The goal: to escape before sunrise and collect riches beyond wildest dreams. However, it’s not as easy as it seems. Over the course of the event, players from your group will disappear making your escape all the more difficult. Players must use clues and intellect to beat JDL’s haunted mansion themed escape room.  Groups of 8 encouraged, but not required. Space is limited, so please register by calling Youth Services at (517) 788-4087 (ext. 1331).Intended for ages 9 and up.  Friday 11 AM to 5 PM, Saturday 10 AM to 4 PM.

College ID Night at Allskate.  College ID Night every Friday 9-11pm in October. Just show your current college ID for Free admission! Come party with DJ David Bay Bay. skate rental is $4. Also have more fun playing Laser Tag while your there. Plus lots of pizza and other goodies will be available from the kitchen.

Council for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect present the 2018 Annual Fundraiser:  A Costume Ball.  $75 per couple ($40 per person).  Hearty Hot D’oeuvres, silent auction, cash bar, dancing, prizes.  6 PM to 9 PM, Cascades Manor.  For tickets, call 788-4239.

Corn Maze.  Heritage Park in Hanover offers many exciting things to do every weekend in October!  Heritage Park is a great place to spend a beautiful fall day.  The family friendly Corn Maze at Heritage Park  will be open every Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon until 6pm. The cost for the maze is $4.00 with 5 and under admitted free.  This includes a wagon ride around the park’s 80 acres!   In addition to the corn maze there will be food and drinks.  A bonfire will be burning to cook hot dogs, s’mores or to just warm your hands.  Also today:  pumpkin carving, face painting, cookie decorating and more!  The pumpkins will be available for $3.

Free Football on the Big Screen.  See the big game on the big screen with the big sound!  The Michigan Theatre will be screening the Michigan vs Michigan State Football Game. Game is at Noon – doors open at 11:30 am, $1 Hotdogs (all beef). FREE ADMISSION/DONATIONS ACCEPTED.

Stand Up Against Domestic Violence and HIV.  Community Outreach.  Hosted by Jackson Equality Center. 4 PM to 6 PM, St. John UCC, 801 S. Mechanic Street, Jackson.  Program, presentations, resources, refreshments.

The Jackson Chorale will celebrate “the Bella Voce: The Beauty of the Human Voice” with a concert on Sunday, October 21 at 4:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Jackson.  Joining the Chorale will be the Spring Arbor University Choirs and the Jackson Chorale Children’s Choir.  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and can be purchased online at jaxmichorale.org or by phone at 782-2967.  Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.

Memories of Service:  A Veteran’s History Exhibit.  This new exhibit at the Conklin Museum in Hanover showcases artifacts, photographs, and stories from the Civil War through the current conflicts.  Stop in and see what’s new at the Conklin Museum!  Exhibit open Sundays through November 11, 2018, from 1 PM until 5 PM.  Group tours on other days are available, just call the museum at 517 563 8927 Tuesday – Friday, 8 AM until noon.  256 Fairview St., Hanover.
