Grand Rivers Farmers Market.  The Jackson Downtown Development Authority presents the Grand River Farmers Market.  Local produce, crafts, flowers, plants, baked goods and more.  9 AM to 2 PM Friday and Saturday.  Corner of Glick and Mechanic, along the Grand River.  Please practice social distancing and wear a mask.  Every Friday and Saturday through October.

Jackson YMCA Zumba Pink Ribbon Party.  Join Jackson YMCA for the seventh annual Pink Ribbon Party – which is virtual this year. This event raises funds for and celebrates the Turning Point Program for breast cancer survivors.  Ten of the top Y Zumba instructors will lead 90 minutes of a high-energy dance party!  Cost will be $10 per person. Beethoven’s Best.  The JSO came back together recently to record our favorite movements from four Beethoven symphonies. Join Maestro Matthew Aubin and the JSO for this special online premiere. Maestro Aubin and select musicians will be chatting with viewers during the presentation so bring your questions. This program will be available on the JSO website, Facebook, and YouTube pages. In addition, the JSO has created supplemental educational materials so that this program can be presented in an interactive, virtual format to school groups. 8 PM.  www.jacksonsymphony.org.

Drive Thru Popcorn.  Free!  The Michigan Theatre is presenting Drive Popcorn Pickup, sponsored by Steven Tucker.  Today, from 5 PM to 6:30 PM.  Pull up in front of the Michigan Theatre on Mechanic Street and one of their gloved and masked representatives will hand you your free box or boxes!

Grass Lake Halloween. Friends of Grass Lake township present their much loved “Haunted Halloween Forest”,, Friday, Oct 23, Saturday, Oct 24, 6.30pm -9.30pm.  Dale Fisher Farm – 1916 Norvell Road,  Grass Lake.  There will be a walkthrough and wagon rides. There will be Bats, witches and goblins. $20 per carload, each guest will receive a donut and cider. There will be a bake sale. This is a Family-friendly event. Social distancing and a mask is required. Please note the wagon ride is not wheelchair accessible. A portion of the proceeds from this event will benefit the FOGLT scholarship fund for senior Grass Lake High School students.  *Rain date is Sunday Oct 25

National Make a Difference Day Coat Drive.   National Make a Difference Day with a winter coat drive, made possible by Emmons Service and Minuteman Sewer & Drain.  Drop off gently used or new coats and winter apparel at Legacy Dry Cleaner where K-105.3 will be broadcasting LIVE from 10am-Noon. Donations will be distributed to area shelters in need.Thank you for Making a Difference on National Make a Difference Day, October 24th!  They want to give a huge thanks to our sponsors, Emmons Service, Legacy Dry Cleaner, the Youth Advisory Club at the Jackson Community Foundation, and Minuteman Sewer & Drain, for making this event possible.  Legacy Dry Cleaner, corner of McCain and Robinson.

Jackson Con Con.  Jackson’s Concatenation Convention – Con Con – continues virtually in 2020-21. This Saturday, Oct. 24, respected illustrator and comic book artist John McCrea will visit Jackson via Zoom from 11 a.m. to 12 noon, for an artist interview. Bluegrass-ish.  Returning to the Weatherwax Hall stage this year is Flatland Harmony Experiment (FHE), a high-octane, four-piece, vocally-driven, string band from Indianapolis, Indiana. FHE plays traditional bluegrass instruments and that genre is prevalent in their sound. They also have elements of jazz, rock, gypsy, traditional country, and everything between in the mix. These ingredients combine into a joyful sound that the Wax audience loved in 2019, and we’re thrilled to be able to bring them back in 2020!  8 PM.  Weatherwax Hall, Downtown Jackson.  Tickets:  www.jacksonsymphony.org.

4th Annual Halloween Cash Bash.  8 PM.  Join Family Service and Children’s Aid for an hour of fun! Purchase a $20.00 ticket and you will have the chance to win $2000.00! There is a special drawing for people who purchase five or more tickets, a 50/50 drawing and a costume contest. Hanover-Horton Halloween.  Head to Heritage Park in Hanover-Horton October 17th and October 24th 12:00pm to 6:00pm for Halloween!  They will have an obstacle course, a scavenger hunt ,  a cupcake walk, games for the kids, craft kits for the kids to take home to complete, wagon rides, pumpkins for sale, free books (kids & adults while supplies last), a bonfire will be going so if you want to bring your own hot dogs to cook you can. They will have water, pop, S’more kits, and popcorn for sale.  All events will be held outdoors.  They will have the community cookbooks for sale ($5.00), Crouch Murder Mystery book,  and their world famous maple syrup. They also have a variety of pumpkins for sale (by donation), be sure to smile when you’re picking out your pumpkin.

Mexican Dish Drive-Thru Fundraiser.  St. Mary Star of the Sea is selling Mexican dishes to support Our Sacred Heart Community. You can pre-Order by calling the Sacred Heart office at 517-783-2772. Maricela Orozco will take pre orders. For $10 you will get five Flautas and Pollo Asado (on the grill portion of Chicken) all will be deliver by drive through the Sacred Heart Hall. (West side of St Stan Church, Pringle ave in Jackson).

Dahlem Poinsettia Fundraiser.  Fresh beautiful poinsettias just in time for the holidays! 7 Colors to choose from!  Classic $13 – Red, Pink, and Cream.  Painted $15 – Purple, Fuchsia, Chameleon, and Blue.  Orders are due by November 1st, and pick up is December 4th, 9:00-4:00 pm or call the office to make an appointment to pick up your order the following week. All proceeds go to the Dahlem Center, including our education programs and community events.
