Grand River Farmers Market.  Grand River Farmers Market featuring local farmers and vendors offering fresh and local products, candles and soaps, and much more!  Apples, pumpkins, and squash are among the fall produce offerings this weekend.  9 am – 2 pm.  We accept cash, credit, checks, double up food bucks, wic project fresh, senior project fresh, and bridge cards!  See you at the market!

Jackson College sixth annual free Halloween Trick or Treat Spooktacular! Enjoy the festivities on Friday, Oct. 25 from 5:30-7 p.m.  Guests are encouraged to dress in a Halloween costume (though not required) and trick or treat through campus buildings. Due to construction on the Central Campus service drive, the starting point and route is yet to be determined. Please watch Jackson College’s website or follow social media for update closer to the day.  Handicapped accessible parking is available on the south or north side of Potter Center (near college bookstore). Strollers and wagons are permitted; the route is completely handicap accessible with all locations being on the first floor of each building; there will be no stairs to navigate. The route will take you in and out of buildings so dress for the weather. Children are encouraged to bring a Halloween pumpkin or bag for treats.  Volunteers will be stationed throughout the campus to direct visitors. Memorial Monument Unveiling.  The Vietnam Veterans of America Jackson Chapter 109 invite you to witness the unveiling of the “Memorial Monument”, dedicated to all Veterans past, present and future.   11 AM.  235 West Franklin Street, Jackson.

Ventilator Race.  By participating in a “5K” Ventilator Race on Oct. 25, Jackson College respiratory care students will breathe life into opportunities for children with asthma to experience Camp Michi-MAC.  Respiratory care students will race to raise funds in the annual “5K” Ventilator Race at noon Friday, Oct. 25. Teams will push ventilator machines around the front circle drive of Justin Whiting Hall, Central Campus, raising funds and competing for prizes such as race winner, best-decorated vent and more. Individuals or groups may sponsor a team per lap (one lap equals one “kilometer”) or for the total race, five laps. Red Cross Blood Drives.  During Breast Cancer Awareness Month this October, the American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give blood or platelets to provide hope and healing to patients fighting cancer. Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women, and more than 268,000 women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. Here is today’s opportunity you have to donate blood to breast cancer patients:   9 a.m. – 2:45 p.m., Lifeways, 1200 N. West Avenue, Jackson.

SOAR Masquerade Gala.  It’s an artful evening of creative expression hosted by SOAR Cafe and Farms, to fundraise so that women survivors of trafficking, addiction, and sexual trauma can ‘Find Their Way Home.’  Includes dinner, artful entertainment, and dancing. Bach’s Lunch Music Series.  Presented by the JSO Community Music School.  12 Noon, Weatherwax Hall.  Join us for our FREE Bach’s Lunch series where you can hear students and teachers perform. Feel free to bring in your own lunch or pizza will be available for purchase.

Goblin Walks.  Goblin Walks, a not-so-scary event offers magical entertainment just in time for Halloween! A half-mile of Halloween fun awaits you along the pumpkin-lit trails. Meet larger-than-life wildlife who teach you why they aren’t so scary through skits and songs. Afterwards, enjoy hot apple cider and donuts while singing songs and listening to stories. We are going to have at least two new skits this year, so you want to be sure to get your reservations in soon!  Friday and Saturday Oct. 25 & 26 evening starting at 6:30 pm and every 15 minutes following, another group heads down the pumpkin-lit trail and the last group at 8:30 pm. Spring Arbor University Halloween in the Science Lab.  Registration at 6:30 PM in White Auditorium.  Demonstrations between 6:30 and 8 PM.  Hands on Science!

Pumpkin Fling.  Baker College of Jackson is inviting all to bring your family and a small (5-6 lb) pumpkin to our free Pumpkin Fling event. Our engineering students will be launching pumpkins from their trebuchet and catapult.  We will also have activities, games and treats for children, including a haunted nursing lab and children’s Halloween videos. Make slime, find a treat in a haystack and decorate cookies. Popcorn and lemonade will be provided.  Pumpkin launching will be in front of the 200 building. Parking is available by the Welcome Center and Engineering buildings.  All donations will benefit the Council on Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect.  11 AM to 2 PM.  Baker College, 2800 Springport Road, Jackson.

Hanover Heritage Park Corn Maze.  Hanover Heritage Park Corn Maze will once again be open every weekend in October (Saturdays and Sundays) from Noon to 6:00.   In honor of our new Monarch Way Station, the maze is a butterfly design.  $4 per person includes a wagon ride around the park as well as the corn maze.  Hot dogs, S’mores, and other goodies and drinks are available for purchase to enjoy around the campfire. 121 Tefft Street, Hanover.

Fright Night at the Maze:  8 PM to 10 PM.  It will be a dark and scary night filled with ghosts, goblins, and ghouls.  Prepare to be scared!  Cost is $5.  Intended for ages 12 and up; younger when accompanied by an adult.  This is a fundraiser for the Hanover-Horton High School Band’s trip to Disney in 2019.  121 Tefft Street, Hanover.

The Healthy Conversation:  Diabetes and You.  Join AARP and the Michigan Fitness Foundation for a fun, interactive event featuring information on nutrition and physical activity, featuring healthy food samples and an interactive exercise demo.  A panel of medical professionals will discuss diabetes.  Music and dance including heart-healthy hustle lessons and cardio drumming.  2:30 Pm to 5 PM, Weatherwax Hall, 215 West Michigan Avenue, Jackson.  Free.  Register by calling 877-926-8300.

Fright Walls at Bright Walls.  Join the Jackson Young Professionals’ Fright Walls Trunk O’ Treat! A kid-friendly spooktacular event! Involves goodies, costumes and being outside at the Bright Walls 2019 location!  3PM to 5 PM, behind City Hall, Downtown Jackson.   

Soiree Macabre.  We’re back for the 5th Annual Soirée Macabre Art Show!  $1 Suggested Donation at the Door.   Join us Sunday, October 27th from 4-8 p.m. at Ironbark Brewing Co. for a Halloween-themed pop-up art show featuring artwork and music by local creatives.  As always:  Costumes are encouraged!  This is a Halloween-themed art show, be aware that some artworks may be disturbing for certain audiences.  Ironbark Brewery, Kibby Cobb Plaza, Jackson.

Trunk or Treat.  Arbor Grove Congregational Church.  Outdoor Halloween festival, with Haunted House, Bounce Station, Food and Drinks. 3:00 – 5:00 pm.  Arbor Grove Congregational Church, 2621 McCain Road, Jackson.

Vocal Point Choir Festival.  Join us for our very first High School Choir Festival, presented by JC’s very own Vocal Point. This celebration of choral music will include Jackson, Columbia Central, and Benzie County Central high school choirs. $5 for adults at the door and students with a school ID are free.  Jackson College Potter Center  5 PM to 7 PM.
