Jackson County Fair. VETERANS DAY sponsored by AT&T.  All Veterans admitted free.  Buy a ride bracelet once inside.  (Bracelets $25 sold until 8:30 p.m.) Regular admission & parking paid at the gate.  Today’s schedule:

Fair Week at Nixon Water Park.  The Nixon Water Park is offering a special rate during the Jackson County Fair from August 5-10.  Enjoy a reduced of $3 per person per session.

Teen Expo and Sports Physicals. 4 PM to 7 PM.  In partnership with Henry Ford Allegiance Health, the YMCA is hosting the Teen Expo – a free event open to the community. Students can get their sports physicals for the upcoming school year for $20 and then stay for the free expo. The event features vendor booths, giveaways, free ice cream and more. Escape from Houdini’s Workshop.  You are tasked with investigating Harry Houdini’s private workshop. The goal, the escape with the magician’s secrets in hand, is not as easy as it seems. Players must use clues and intellect to beat JDL’s magician-themed escape room. Groups of 8 are encouraged but not required. Space is limited, please register with the Carnegie Library Youth Services at 517-788-4087 ext. 1331. August 8: 2-6 PM, Teens only event (ages 11-18) August 9: 12-4 PM, All ages. August 10: 11 AM – 3 PM, All ages.  Five sessions a day, at the top of the hour.  Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library.

Ella’s Patio Party.  Live music, small plates, cash bar.  5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.  $5 admission, free for members.  Ella Sharp Museum.  Entertainment today by Banjo Mike and refreshments by Tiki Sam’s Wood Fire Pizza.

Laser Light Shows at Hurst Planetarium.  Today:  Members Only Show at  6 PM, Stranger Things  at 7 PM and Pink Floyd:  Dark Side of the Moon at 8 PM. Join Ella Sharp Museum in the Hurst Planetarium all this week for three featured laser light shows each day.  Tickets are available at the door of the planetarium before each show.  $6 for adults, $4 for children.

Girl Scouts Backyard BBQ.  Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan is having a barbecue!   Thursday, August 8, 2019 at 6:00 PM.  To give you the scoop on the BBQ: besides some mighty tasty barbecue with all the fixins, our 2019 Backyard BBQ will feature silent and live auctions with some awesome prizes.
The fun begins at Camp O’ the Hills, 2100 Pink St. Brooklyn.  Tickets for the BBQ are $30 per person or $210 for a table of eight, and all proceeds from the event will be used to provide financial assistance for girls in our area. Tickets available here.

Movie Night at the Jackson County Fair.  Charlotte’s Web will be playing on the big screen at the Jackson County Fair!  Where? North end of the track/infield in the green space! When? Movie Night at the Jackson County Fair will be held on Thursday, August 8th at 9:00 PM.  FREE TO ENJOY(once inside the gates)! FREE POPCORN!  Bring a blanket or lawn chair!
