Adopt A Family Opportunity.  Families struggling to make ends meet can find that the holidays can be an added source of stress and anxiety. Often there are no presents or tree with lights. Food and clothes are often the only items found under the tree if anything at all. Community Action Agency’s staff working on the front lines in the War on Poverty see this daily.  CAA’s Adopt-a-Family program tries to ensure that the holiday season is just a bit brighter. Staff select individual families that they know personally and we match them with partners in the community. The partners adopt those families for the holidays. Partners typically provide at least one new toy and one new outfit for each child in the family, as well as a special holiday meal. Often partners select to provide more.  This year the need for partners to adopt families has been great. We are reaching out to the community to help make a difference in a neighbor’s life by directly adopting a family who you will have the opportunity to meet personally. Over the past few years, families, friends and office teams sign up to and make their holiday parties a way to come together to help others in their community together. Partners can also remain anonymous.  If you are interested in adopting a family this year, contact Kate Lambert Lee at (517)539-8310 or by email at klee@caajlh.org
