Thursday Night Film Series.  “The Maltese Falcon”.  Private eye Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart) encounters sundry characters (Mary Astor, Peter Lorre), all seeking a coveted statuette. Run Time : 100 minutes.  Admission $5 .  Doors open at 6:30 P.M. Film Starts at 7:00 P.M.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

JXN Community Forum.  The SNAP (Supplemental Assistance Nutrition Program) program is changing. At the end of 2018 residents of Jackson who receive the snap benefits are being required to work, volunteer, or be part of a job training program 20 hours per week in order to receive their benefits.  The March forum will be a panel with members of a variety of agencies (DHHS, United Way, Southwestern Michigan Works) there to speak about how things are changing, and how a person makes sure that they continue to qualify for SNAP benefits.  The JXN Community Forums are free and open programs to facilitate dialogue about challenging issues of our day. The forums are co-sponsored by The League of Women Voters and the Jackson District Library.  6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library.

United Way Diaper Drive.  United Way of Jackson County (UWJC) is spearheading the United Way Diaper Drive Presented By Henry Ford Allegiance Health to gather and deliver diapers to five local nonprofit partners. Those agencies will then distribute the diapers to families in need. The partners are Catholic Charities, Child Care Network, Family Service & Children’s Aid, Jackson Housing Commission, and the Salvation Army of Jackson County.  Community members can donate infant and toddler diapers during the Diaper Drive, which happens March 11-22.  Diaper donations can be dropped off during normal business hours at the following locations:  United Way of Jackson County, 536 N. Jackson St.;  Henry Ford Allegiance Health Cafeteria, 205 N. East Ave.; One Jackson Square Lobby, 100 E. Michigan Ave.; and the Orthopedic/Neuroscience Center Lobby, 1201 E. Michigan Ave.  Other locations are all branches of County National Bank and CP Federal Credit Union, Western High School, 1400 S. Dearing Road, Parma and HOME.fm studios, 106 E. Main Street, Spring Arbor.  If you don’t have time to buy and drop off diapers, you can support the Diaper Drive financially. Text DIAPER to 91999.
