The JXN Community Forum: November Ballot Candidate Forum October 11 @ 6:30 pm Free.  Come to the Carnegie Branch for a chance meet the candidates for the November ballot.  Join the Jackson District Library and the League of Women Voters for the Candidate Forum for the midterm elections. Get your chance to meet and question candidates on the November ballot in Jackson County including U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives, Michigan Senate and Michigan House of Representatives in the 64th and 65th Districts, and Jackson County Commissioners.  The JXN Community Forums are free and open programs to facilitate dialogue about challenging issues of our day. The forums are co-sponsored by the League of  Women Voters and the Jackson District Library.

Jackson College presents Oktoberfest! The Jackson College Foundation’s Ninth Annual Feast for Knowledge fundraising event commemorates Oktoberfest with fun, food and spirits,.  This signature gala event directly support our 8,000 students annually through Jackson College Foundation scholarships, the Harriet Myer Student Emergency Fund, and organizational support. Oktoberfest attendees will play a vital role in the success of our Jackson College students, offering them help and hope for the future.   The celebration will begin in the Robert Snyder Dining Room and consist of a variety of German cuisine favorites, including sauerbraten, schnitzel and sausages. Enjoy a selection of specialty beverages from local Michigan breweries and wineries. Theme Night Film Series:  The Birds.   Theme Night Films is a series that was developed with patrons in mind. With a fun, new theme every month, the films will never be the same. With horror films, cult favorites, and holiday films, the last quarter of the year is sure to have something for everyone.  This is when being a member pays off! Members of The Michigan Theatre of Jackson receive a free medium combo with paid admission. World War II Stories of Jackson.  Learn the background stories of World War II from Sue Weible with visual help from images out of the history book, Jackson’s Call to Greatness.  Michigan Military Heritage Museum, 153 N. Union Street, Grass Lake.  6 PM.

Fall Book Sale.  Friends of the Meijer Branch of the Jackson District Library present the annual Fall Book and Bake Sale.  Thursday 9-7:30 pm.  Friday 9-5:30pm.  Saturday 9-3 pm. Fill a bag for $1.00 only Saturday!

Christian Music Skate Night.  Christian Music Skate Night hosted by Calvary Apostolic Church.  6-8pm. Admission is only $6 with FREE skate rental. Snack Bar, Arcade and Laser Tag will be available! Everyone is invited!.  Skate Mates: $5 + deposit.
