Men Who Cook.  AWARE, Inc. presents the 9th Annual Men Who Cook Drive Thru Edition.  4:30 PM to 7 PM.  Ella Sharp Park Rotunda on Rotunda Drive.  $25 per person, $40 per couple, $10 for children.  All you need to do is pull up to Jackson’s famous Rotunda at Ella Sharp Park and a waiter will come and take your order.  Dinners will be made up from the items you have selected and packaged in to go containers.  The best part, you get to try all of the chefs’ creations in the comfort of your own home.  Credit cards accepted on the website:  www.awareshelter.org or cash in person at the event.  Help support domestic violence and sexual assault Survivors here in Jackson County.   The chefs and their dishes:  Adam Soper’s Meatball Sliders, Adam Williams’ Three Cheese Ravioli with Italian Sausage in Red Sauce, Brian Dumont’s Chili, Chad Kennedy’s Deputie’s Perch and Onion Rings, Davan Gerding’s Hawaiian Chicken, Ruben Pritchard’s Tacos de Carné Guisada, and Tom Mitchell’s Antipasto Squares.

Free Popcorn Pickup. “Popcorn Drive Up Pick Up” Sponsored by Dave and Cathy Heins Pull up on Mechanic Street (under the Michigan Theatre Marquee) between 5:00 and 6:30 P.M.  For your Free Box (or boxes) of POPCORN.  JUST PULL UP AND ONE OF OUR MASKED AND GLOVED REPRESENTATIVES WILL HAND YOU THE POPCORN.

Jaxtober.  JAXTOBER, a month long celebration, promotion and support of all things Jackson. All Jackson, All Month!  JAXTOBER is a campaign encouraging all Jackson County residents to shop in Jackson, eat in Jackson, play in Jackson, to promote Jackson, and ultimately, to love Jackson all month long.  JAXTOBER will culminate with one lucky Jackson County resident winning 20-$50 gift cards to local shops and restaurants, a $1,000 prize! Dahlem Poinsettia Fundraiser.  Fresh beautiful poinsettias just in time for the holidays! 7 Colors to choose from!  Classic $13 – Red, Pink, and Cream.  Painted $15 – Purple, Fuchsia, Chameleon, and Blue.  Orders are due by November 1st, and pick up is December 4th, 9:00-4:00 pm or call the office to make an appointment to pick up your order the following week. All proceeds go to the Dahlem Center, including our education programs and community events. Salvation Army Food Pantry.  The Salvation Army of Jackson County Food Pantry Hours:  Regular Pantry Hours are 10 am-noon and 1-2 pm Monday through Thursday.  Food Boxes are available every 30 days. In an emergency food may be provided from 2-4:30 pm -please call ahead – 517-782-7185. 

Library iSpy.  Do you and your kids love Where’s Waldo and the iSpy books? Check out JDL’s Facebook page to play Library iSpy! Every day during the week of October 12, we will post a picture from one of our libraries and a list of items that can be spied in the pictures.  Prizes will be given away daily for those who participate as well as a larger prize at the end of the week!

Jackson YMCA Outdoor Exercise Classes.  Join the outdoor group exercise classes at the downtown Jackson YMCA.  Free for members, $5 for most classes for non-members.  Bring a mat, water bottle and towel.  Complete schedule at jacksonymca.org.
