Red Cross Blood Drive.  9/12/2019: 1 p.m. – 6:45 p.m., Grace Church, 2692 North Dettman Road, Jackson.  September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the American Red Cross encourages eligible donors to give blood to support kids, teens and young adults battling cancer, as well as others in need of transfusions.

Public Planetarium Shows.  6:30 PM.  Peter Hurst Planetarium, Ella Sharp Museum.  Explore the many wonderful sights of our nearest celestial neighbor, the Moon! A brand new show developed by The Adler Planetarium, “Imagine the Moon” takes viewers on a trip to the Moon, while celebrating the 50th anniversary of humanity’s first steps on another world.  Now showing through September 29: “Imagine the Moon”.  Thursdays at 6:30 p.m.  Sundays at 2:30 p.m.  Located in the Hurst Planetarium.  Tickets: $6 adults, $4 for children and Ella Sharp Museum members. Age 5 and under is FREE. Tickets available at the door.

Fall Prevention Screening.  Presented by Lloyd Ganton Retirement Centers.  Summit Branch, Jackson YMCA.  1 PM.  Learn more about fall prevention and take part in a free Fall Prevention Screening.  Free event and screening.

Gilbert Chocolates Open House.  Come to Downtown Jackson and visit Gilbert Chocolates (233 N Jackson Street, and check out their new Chocolate Loft. The Junior Achievement company they support, Achievement Chocolate Bars, will have kids and mentors from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM to answer questions. They are looking for customers and more kids to be participants in their company.

AARP Michigan and Jackson Symphony Guild present Away From Her, a Music and Memory movie event.  Free admission.  Doors open at 6 PM, film at 6:30 PM.  Join us for the showing of “Away from Her”. This movie will be the 4th in a series since 2016 to highlight the Jackson Symphony Guild’s “Music & Memory” program. Come learn how far we’ve come and how your loved-one can be a part of this FREE music program.  Michigan Theatre.

Music and Movement Classes.  A fun, active, and energetic class for children ages 3 to 5 years old, and an adult to accompany the child. You can expect singing, dancing, parachutes, and more!  Thursday 5:00-5:45 PM.  Ages 3 – 5 years old w/ Adult to accompany.  Monthly Tuition is $35 or less (Monthly tuition is $24 to $35 based on household income).  See jacksonarts.org/affordable for more info about our sliding fee scale and scholarships.  Jackson School of the Arts, 634 N.
