Fair Housing Conference. April is National Fair Housing Month. This April celebrates the 51st anniversary of the passage of the Federal Housing Law Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968. The law made it unlawful to discriminate in housing based on religion, race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, marital status, or familial status. Community Action Agency believes that every month should be Fair Housing Month and will host the 2019 Fair Housing Conference. The conference will be held on Wednesday, April 17th, 1 PM to 4 PM, at the Jackson District Library Carnegie Branch. The conference is designed to help landlords, tenants, property managers, mortgage lenders, and real estate professionals, it is open to the public. While it is free and open to the public, reservations are required to ensure space for all wishing to attend. Topics to include: information on Fair Housing, Tenant Rights, Best Practices, Housing Resources, and much more.
