Back to School.  Jackson County Schools begin classes this week, with students returning to classrooms today and tomorrow. 

Food Truck Tuesday.  This is the LAST Food Truck Tuesday event of the year! If you haven’t been yet, make sure you make it out because this is something you won’t want to miss!  Food trucks and live music at Horace Blackman Park in Downtown Jackson from 11 am until 1 pm on Tuesday, August 20.  We’re partnering with the DDA, Michigan Theatre and JSO to bring you a mini-concert during each event as part of the Endless Summer Event Series.  Today:  Victor McDermott 11:00 – 12:00 and Brian Tucker 12:00 – 1:00 P.M.

Jackson Pride Week.  Today, Art Mart & Poetry Slam.  4 PM to 8 PM.  K Gallery, 612 Page Avenue, Jackson.  LGBTQ/Ally artists and craftspeople will be displaying their works and offering items for sale.  LGBTQ youth and adults alike can share original poetry or read contemporary and historical pieces written by the Pride community.

Tinker Tuesday.  11 AM.  Ella Sharp Museum is hosting “Things Come Apart,” a traveling exhibit from the Smithsonian Institution that invites us to see and understand how everyday objects work. In conjunction with the exhibit, we will be offering “Tinker Tuesdays,” a chance for young inventors to explore hands-on Spark!Lab Activity Kits associated with the exhibit and create their own inventions using a variety of supplies at various stations. Join lifelong tinkerer, Dave Kalen from Jackson Makerspace as he shares his enthusiasm and expertise in taking things apart and putting them back together.  Gallery Admission Details: $5 for Adults, $3 for Children, FREE for members.  The Spark!Lab Activity Kits are provided through a grant from the Smithsonian Women’s Committee.

T3 with AARP.  1 PM to 3 PM.  The Third Tuesday of each month, AARP will host an informational workshop on issues important to older adults and their families. Topics to include avoiding fraud, resources for family caregivers, how to save on utilities, brain health, things you can do to stay in your home safely, and more.  All programs are from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.  Adults are the intended audience.
