Food Truck Tuesday.  Horace Blackman Park.  11 AM to 1 PM.   We’re partnering with the DDA, Michigan Theatre and JSO to bring you a mini-concert during each event as part of the Endless Summer Event Series. Grab your favorite food or a delicious sweet treat (or both, who are we kidding?!) and settle in to listen to some of our favorite local artists.

Primary Election Day.  Voters in the City of Jackson have a mayoral primary, Napoleon Township has  a police and fire millage and a renewal millage for police and fire in Summit Township.

Tuesday Movies at Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library.  Join us for Movie Tuesdays at the Carnegie Library!  August 6: Spider Man: Into the Spiderverse.  Free!  1:30 PM.

Laser Light Shows at Hurst Planetarium.  Today:  Queen at 6 PM, Daft Punk at 7 PM and Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon at 8 PM. Join Ella Sharp Museum in the Hurst Planetarium all this week for three featured laser light shows each day.  Tickets are available at the door of the planetarium before each show.  $6 for adults, $4 for children.

Stuff the Bus.  United Way of Jackson County, along with local business and area agencies, are inviting residents to donate school supplies so all children in Jackson County have the tools they need to learn and succeed.  Now in its second year, the Stuff The Bus school supply drive takes place July 29-Aug. 9. Stuff The Bus brings together United Way of Jackson County, Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) in Jackson County, and the Martin Luther King Community Center.  Drop-off sites include the following:

  • United Way of Jackson County office
  • Henry Ford Allegiance Health—Cafeteria, One Jackson Square lobby, Orthopedic/Neuroscience Center lobby
  • County National Bank—all locations in Jackson County
  • CP Federal Credit Union—all locations in Jackson County
  • Center for Family Health—medical and dental buildings
  • Flagstar Bank—downtown Jackson location

Those who don’t have time to shop can donate by credit card by texting STUFF to 40403, with 100 percent of those gifts going to purchase school supplies.
