Red Kettle Christmas Movie.  The Salvation Army presents a free Christmas movie, sponsored by Tripp’s Auto Shop and Collision Center.  The Red Kettle Christmas movie is “The Grinch”, playing at the Michigan Theatre on Tuesday, December 3 at 6 PM.  Doors open at 5 PM.  The movie, popcorn and pop are free.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Foster Care Adoption Forum.  Have you ever wanted to learn more about foster care and adoption but don’t want to commit right at the moment? Then the forum is the perfect event for you!  Hear from current and past foster/adoptive parents, be able to ask them questions and learn general information about it!  Click here to view the Facebook event page. 6 PM, Jackson YMCA, 127 West Wesley Street.

Purls and String Knitting Circle.  Join us for a monthly knitting circle in which knitters of all levels can share and learn! Master knitter Alana White will be on hand to answer your questions and assist with all kinds of knitting projects.  6 PM, Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library.

Yoga at Carnegie.  Feeling stressed? Wound up and worn down? Join us for Yoga at Carnegie! Intended for anyone interested in yoga, from newbies to certified yogis. Nite Lites Drive Thru Christmas Light Show.  Michigan International Speedway US-12 Entrance only, 12626 US-12, Brooklyn.  5:30 pm – 9 pm Sunday thru Thursday 5:30 pm – 10:00 pm Friday & Saturday.  Pricing: $25 per car / vehicle, $40 per mini-bus, $40 per Limo / motor home $70 per tour bus, All major credit cards accepted.  Nite Lites Winter Wonderland:  Dec. 6,7,8, Dec. 13,14,15 and Dec. 20,21,22.  Children will have the opportunity to have their photos taken with Santa and make their Christmas wishes.  Photos will be taken for a small fee or  you are welcome to visit Santa at no charge.  We will be offering a puppet show and train rides  Winter Wonderland hours: 6pm-9pm, Santa’s hours: 6:00pm-8:30pm.    Live Reindeer nights only:  December 6th, 13th, and 20th (6pm – 9pm).  This event features food and drinks of the season and a visit from Santa Claus himself!

Adopt A Family.  For families struggling to make ends meet, the holidays can be an added source of stress and anxiety.   Community Action Agency’s Adopt-a-Family program tries to ensure that the holiday season is a bit brighter. Staff select individual families within the programs CAA offers that are working towards self-sufficiency. CAA then partners with community members to adopt the individuals and families for the holidays. Partners typically provide at least one new toy and one new outfit for each child in the family, as well as a special holiday meal. Many partners provide more as they are able.
