Julie Alexander Virtual Office Hour.  State Rep. Julie Alexander presents an opportunity for local residents to share their ideas with her during her virtual office hour.  The informal meeting is scheduled to take place Tuesday, Feb. 9 from 4 to 5 p.m. on Zoom.  Rep. Alexander also announced she will be joined by Jackson County Health Department Health Officer Rashmi Travis who will discuss the local vaccine rollout plan and be available to answer questions.  “This is a great opportunity for interested residents to learn when and where the vaccine will be available to them and their loved ones,” Alexander said. “I also look forward to speaking with my Jackson County neighbors about how I can best represent their interests at the Capitol.”  Those who are unable to attend the meeting but would still like to share a concern or idea can also contact Rep. VITA Tax Preparation.  Community Action Agency provides free Federal, state and city income tax preparation services through the IRS sponsored Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. CAA provides trained IRS certified volunteer tax preparers to complete and e-file returns.  Tax preparers work with each client to ensure the client receives all of the money they are entitled to receive. This money could be from the Child Tax Credit, Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Homestead Property Tax Credit, Home Heating Credit, among others. To learn more about the EITC visit the IRS EITC homepage.  Returns are electronically filed (e-filed) to speed up the receipt of the refund.
