Neighborhood Meetings About Road Repair Plan.  A plan to fix Jackson’s streets will be the focus of three neighborhood meetings in January.  Jackson City Councilmember Colleen Sullivan and other city officials will give presentations on a comprehensive road plan at the meetings. Proposed by Councilmember Sullivan, the 20-year plan intends to fix streets in need of repair, but also provide a sustainable funding structure to insure roads are kept in good shape. Officials will give information about the cost of this plan and how it will impact residents.  All Jackson residents are welcome to attend these meetings to learn about the plan and give input.  Meeting Schedule and Locations:  Tuesday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. – Martin Luther King Center, 1107 Adrian St., Jackson.  Thursday, Jan. 10 at 6 p.m. – Carnegie Library, 224 W. Michigan Ave., Jackson.  Monday, Jan. 14 at 6 p.m. – Calvary United Methodist Church, 925 Backus St., Jackson.

Story Telling for Little People.  Step back in time to explore history through creative drama. With improvisation, mime, and imagination. Students will explore different eras of history. Whether as a knight in the medieval times or leading their own wagon train. Storytelling allows students to participate in history while learning to create their own stories. Students work together to present a collaborative dramatic project for the end of the session.  Performance on March 25th.  4:15 PM, Jackson School of the Arts, 634 North Mechanic Street.  *Monthly tuition and one time costume fee due at time of registration.  Intended for 5 to 8 year olds.

Mighty Naturalist:  Tree House.  Nature is full of hidden clues about the animals that live there. You may not know where to look or what to look for but animal clues are everywhere. You’ll learn how to spot and identify common clues that animals live in or near forest trees. We’ll read a story, go on a short outdoor adventure, then head into the classroom to see an assortment of animal furs and homes, and make a quick craft.   Naturalist Programs are geared toward children 5 years and younger with an adult caregiver to learn about animals, winter survival, birds, tracks, and more.  Each program offers a different theme and activities to give you and your mighty naturalist many program opportunities. Invite your friends to sign up, too.  Ages: 1-5 years old with a caregiver.  Fee: $8 per child ($5 Dahlem member); free for adult and children under 1 year old.  When: January 8, Tuesday morning 10:00 – 11:15 am .  Registration:  Please call 517-782-3453.  Dahlem Conservancy, 7117 S. Stretch and Conditioning.  This hour-long class focuses on building core strength and increasing endurance and flexibility through a variety of exercises.  These exercises include, but are not limited to pilates, yoga, and strength exercises. This class also helps dancers identify areas of weakness as well as needs in flexibility.  It gives dancers the tools to use throughout their week to improve these areas as they work towards their dance goals.  This class is also great for the non-dancers because being strong and flexible is good for us all!  Jackson School of the Arts, 634 N. Mechanic Street, Jackson.  6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.
