Michigan Theatre presents Summer Kids Series:  A Dog’s Journey.  Some friendships transcend lifetimes. In A Dog’s Journey, the sequel to the heartwarming global hit A Dog’s Purpose, beloved dog Bailey finds his new destiny and forms an unbreakable bond that will lead him, and the people he loves, to places they never imagined.  11 AM and 2 PM.  $4 Combos  Small Pop and Small Popcorn.  Admission 1 Dollar.  Sponsored by 2019 Annual Spring Tea at Baker College and Kiwanis Club of Jackson.

Food Truck Tuesday.  11 AM to 1 PM, Horace Blackman Park, Downtown Jackson.  With a growing crowd, we’ve added two more vendors than usual for this event, giving you more options and shorter lines.  Food trucks and live music at Horace Blackman Park in Downtown Jackson.  We’re partnering with the DDA, Michigan Theatre and JSO to bring you a mini-concert during each event as part of the Endless Summer Event Series. Grab your favorite food or a delicious sweet treat (or both, who are we kidding?!) and settle in to listen to some of our favorite local artists.  Truck Lineup:

Summer Movies at the Carnegie Branch.  Join us for Movie Tuesdays at the Carnegie Library!  July 16: Grinch.  1:30 PM, free.  Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library.

5K Challenge Kickoff Event.  6 PM, Anderson Building Auditorium, Henry Ford Allegiance Health. The 5K Challenge is a 10-week program to get you moving toward better health and fitness. The program is designed to prepare you to walk or run a 5K at the Henry Ford Allegiance Race to Health on Saturday, September 21. To keep participants motivated, there will be sessions on fitness and healthy eating, weekly health tips, and special speakers. Best-selling author Joe Piscatella, who designs and facilitates community wellness programs, will provide guidance during the program. For added incentive, you’ll have the opportunity to earn a chance to win a variety of prizes, including a $1,000 Visa gift card (5 cards will be awarded).   Give us 10 weeks to help you get moving and run a 5K! Cameron Zvara at the Meijer Branch.  Join us at the Jackson District Library Meijer Branch for a show that is packed with magic, comedy, juggling, stunts, music, and audience participation!  Cameron’s show is designed for the entire family to enjoy, keeping everything 100% squeaky clean at all times.  Pleae call 517-788-4480 to register.  1:30 PM, Meijer Branch, Jackson District Library.

Slime, Sloam and Fun.  Jackson School of the Arts.  Slime, Floam, and Fun! Tuesdays: July 16, 23 & 30.  Ages 4-8 4:00-5:00.  Ages 9-13 5:30-6:30.  $27 includes all supplies.  If you love mixing up gooey, mushy, magnificent concoctions…then this is for you. Learn the recipes to make and color your own slime. Get sticky and creative as you paint, color and blend brilliant slime creations. Nixon Water Park is open for the season. The Water Park will be open every day, except Sundays, through August 17th.  Hours of operation and swim sessions are:  MONDAY THRU THURSDAY, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., 2:15 to 5:15 p.m. and 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. ($2 only). FRIDAYS AND SATURDAYS, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and 2:15 to 5:15 p.m. SUNDAYS:  CLOSED.  Admission for each session is $4.00, except the Monday thru Thursday evening session which is $2.00.
