Pets for Veterans.  Cascades Humane Society (CHS) is proud to announce a partnership with Friends of the Animals to provide adoptions to local veterans free of charge.   Friends of Animals, a non-profit organization in the Jackson area, is sponsoring this event thanks to a grant from the Samuel Higby and Margaret H. Camp Foundation.   Veterans may visit CHS during the month of November to adopt one dog or two cats. CHS ensures that each animal is spayed or neutered, brought up to date on vaccines, and given parasite prevention. Veterans will need to provide their driver’s license or Michigan ID showing they reside in Jackson County, and a copy of their DD214 paperwork or their Jackson County Veterans ID card.   Cascades Humane Society is open noon to 6pm, Tuesdays through Saturdays. To view current available pets, visit their website.

Things Come Apart Exhibit.  Within every object, tool or device that we use there are dozens of components which work together to represent the creativity, passion and highest levels of achievement of their time. When it comes to the objects we use every day, the sum really is greater than the parts. “Things Come Apart” features captivating photographs of deconstructed devices, fascinating videos and encased disassembled objects that display the effects imagination has on technology and the evolution of design. “Things Come Apart” is an exhibition organized by Todd McLellan and the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service (SITES).  Ella Sharp Museum.  10 AM to 5 PM and through January 26, 2020.
