Jackson and the Roaring 20s.  Propelled by events of the previous decade, Jackson, Michigan roared through the 1920s, experiencing lasting modifications to its social and physical appearance. Jackson & The Roaring 20s, a new exhibition on view from November 14 – October 17, 2021 at Ella Sharp Museum explores stories of the decade and their enduring significance in the community.  Developed by Ella Sharp Museum, The Jackson & The Roaring 20s exhibit draws from three different timelines in Jackson: events of the 1910s, the transition into the 1920s, and the lasting effects through the 1920s and into the future. With the focus on Jackson, the timeline will feature culture, life, and technology. Visitors will learn more specifically about Jackson saloons, brewery history, shifts in pop-culture, women of the 1920s, industries, technology, political and cultural tensions, and a larger look at the visible changes that took place during the decade.  Jackson & The Roaring 20s was developed as a supplement to the traveling exhibit Spirited: Prohibition in America. Spirited now open at Ella Sharp Museum and explores the era of prohibition when Americans could no longer manufacture, sell, or transport intoxicating beverages.
