Ride of Silence.  Cascades Cycling Club will host the Ride of Silence in Jackson on Wednesday, May 18 starting from Horace Blackman Park in downtown Jackson. The ride will be an 8 mile “slow roll” through town to pay our respects to riders who have been injured or killed while cycling, and to remind motorists and city officials of our right to ride on public streets. This will be a police-escorted ride.  Horace Blackman Park Ample parking can be found on Pearl Street, with additional parking on the streets bordering the park such as Jackson Street and Michigan Avenue. Plan to arrive early as the ride will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m.

Jackson Shred Day.  4 PM to 6 PM.  Due to popular demand, American 1 Credit Union is having an additional Shred Day event in our Jackson community on May 18 from 4-6 pm at Westwood Mall.  Identity theft is something everyone should be educated about, and it’s important to understand the steps to take to prevent it from happening. At American 1, we offer Community Shred Days for free for individuals and small businesses.  This is an opportunity to safely and securely destroy personal documents that include important and private information you would never want anyone to have.  For more information, visit https://a1cu.us/ShredDays

Spring Open House at Paragon Charter Academy.  Please join us at Paragon for a Spring Open House on Wednesday, 5/18/22. Stop by anytime between 10:00 am-1:00 pm to take a tour of the building.  3750 McCain Road, Jackson.

Jackson County Animal Shelter Adoption Event.  1 PM to 3 PM. JCAS Adoption Event.  Join us at the Aeroquip Branch Office for an on-site adoption event to find your furever friend!  501 Laurence Ave, Jackson.

Bug Hunt Bingo.  Jackson District Library.  Stop by any JDL branch during the week of May 16 to hunt for Michigan spring bugs on a bug bingo card! Craft kits will also be available with bug tongs and a magnifying glass.

Michigan’s Majestic Lighthouses.  6 PM.  Join us at the Summit Branch as Southern Lower Peninsula Historian Laurie Perkins takes you on a trip through two of Michigan’s majestic lighthouses—one in Copper Harbor at the tip of the Kewanee Peninsula and the other at Tawas Point on the sunrise side of the State.  Space is limited, please call 517-783-4030 to register.  This program will be recorded for viewing on our website for one week.  Summit Branch, Jackson District Library.

Bark and Brew Online Silent Auction Preview.  Jackson County Animal Shelter volunteers will be hosting an online auction for a preview of auction items of what’s to come at THE BARK & BREW. 100% proceeds will benefit JCAS.  To see auction items, click here.  The Jackson County Animal Shelter online preview auction for BARK & Brew runs through May 21st.  Jackson’s Bark and Brew! Bark and Brew takes place at Keeley Park on Saturday, May 21st from 1 to 6pm.  Enjoy craft beers from local brewers, great food, live entertainment, door prizes, a dog talent show and more! Proceeds will benefit the Jackson County Animal Shelter Community Spay/Neuter program for Jackson County Animal Shelter Animals.
