Harold White Sr. Volunteer Award Breakfast.  Come and celebrate with us as, we congratulate this year’s Harold White Sr. Volunteer awardees: Terry Langston and Fran Adams and the First United Methodist Wellness Team. Breakfast will be served along with key note speaker Sheila Patterson and an appearance from Julie Alexander. 7:30 AM, Cascades Manor.  $20 at the door.

Fill the Blue Bus.  The Jackson YMCA be taking the Blue Bus all over Jackson to collect items for our online auction. Bring anything you want to get rid of (big or small, as long as it’s in good condition) to our Blue Bus. We’ll auction everything in November, and proceeds go to help Y kids and families.  On Wednesday, you can find the Blue Bus at:  Dawn Food Products, Sargent Road, from 11 AM to 1 PM.  This is your chance to help a great cause!

The Jackson District Library will host its 31st Jackson Storyfest beginning today.   The three-day event will feature some of the most talented and renowned storytellers from across the United States, and culminate in a finale showcase event Oct. 19 at the Michigan Theatre in downtown Jackson.  The stories begin 9 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17 when area Head Start programs and early education organizations across Jackson County will gather to participate in preschool story sessions. From Judy Sima to a performance by “Mother Goose” (performer Trudy Bulkey) at Carnegie Library, children will be intrigued by the whimsical storytime performances from familiar storytellers.  Sessions for pre-schoolers at 9, 9:45 and 10:30 am. 

Habitat for Humanity Fundraiser Paint Party.  This is a Ladies Night Out Fall Paint Party to benefit Habitat for Humanity, helping our community. You can have the choice of painting a triple pumpkin or candy corn wood cutout in various ways for your door or fall wall decor.
