Jackson College will present a Domestic Violence Forum today at 2 PM at Bert Walker Hall, Room 144, Central Campus.  Learn more about what domestic violence is, steps for a victim to take, and steps to recovery.  Representatives from AWARE, local law enforcement and the judicial community, Catholic Charities and the Oasis Center.

JXN Community Forum:  “Fake News”.  A panels journalists and MSU Professor Steve Rohs take on the topic of Fake News.  Join the discussion and hear how to fact check, notice bias, and distinguish between valid and invalid sources.  Panel includes Taylor DesOrmeau, MLive and Gautham Nagesh, former Wall Street Journal reporter.  6:30 PM to 8:30 PM, Carnegie Branch, Jackson District Library.

Jackson County Civitan Club presents Michigan’s Crossroads to Freedom with guest speaker and author Linda Hass.  Subject: Underground Railroad.  Her talk will give highlights of her two books: Michigan’s Crossroads to Freedom and Hidden in Plain Sight.  The first book, published in 2017, lays Jackson’s claim to play a role in the Underground Railroad and gives a good overview.  The second book, published in 2018, gives personality profiles of selected agents and fugitives who lived in Jackson or passed through it, based on evidence.  6 PM, Denny’s Restaurant, Airport Road, Jackson.  Details here.
