The Green Market at Henry Ford Allegiance Health is open today from 9 AM to 2 PM.  Local, sustainable and organic produce and Michigan-made items are featured.  Located across from the main hospital building on East Michigan Avenue. 

The Eastern Branch of the Jackson District Library presents Leonardo DiCaprio movies Thursdays in October at 2 PM.  Today’s movie is Inception (2010, PG-13).  Free admission and free popcorn.  Intended for adults.  Widescreen and comfortable seats too!

The Kiwanis Club of Jackson presents the 72nd Season of The Travel Adventure Film Series.  Travel without ever leaving Jackson!  Films are presented in the auditorium of Jackson High School, 544 Wildwood Avenue at 7 p.m.  Single Admission Tickets available for purchase at the door:  $8 for adults, $4 for students, Children 12 & under are free!  This evening’s film:  A Taste of Old Holland.  All films begin at 7 p.m. and are shown at the Jackson High School auditorium.

The Hurst Planetarium at Ella Sharp Museum presents Phantom of the Universe, The Hunt for Dark Matter.  Join us as we showcase an exciting exploration of dark matter, from the Big Bang to its anticipated discovery at the Large Hadron Collider. See the first hints of its existence through the eyes of Fritz Zwicky, the scientist who coined the term “dark matter.” From there explore the astral choreography witnessed by Vera Rubin in the Andromeda Galaxy and then plummet deep underground to see the most sensitive dark matter detector on Earth, housed in a former gold mine. Finally journey across space and time to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, to learn how scientists around the world are collaborating to track down the constituents of dark matter.  6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

Sandhill Crane Vineyards presents Thirsty Thursdays.  Live music, yummy food from the café, and great wine… every Thursday night!  Tonight’s entertainment is by  Lighting Matches. Cost: $5 cover charge.  Wine is also available for purchase by the glass or bottle.  Food: A limited café menu is available along with several entrée and dessert specials for the evening.  Time: 6:00 to 9:00 pm, live music from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.
