Pre-School Story Time.  Join us at the Carnegie Branch every Wednesday at 10 a.m. for stories, crafts and more. Intended for ages 3-5.

JPS Community Kindergarten & Young Fives Round Up.  Join us for information about the upcoming school year.  Free meal and child care for all attendees.  Tonight from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Dibble School, corner of Robinson and Libby Roads.

Building Great Dads The Fatherhood Project.  A series of highly interactive workshops begins tonight to help fathers be the greatest dads.  Provider, Protector, Partner and Preparer.  First meeting tonight at Grand River Brewery, all Dads welcome.  Free appetizers; cash bar.  7 PM to 8:30 PM.  Meetings once per month on Wednesdays (May 16, June 20, September 19, October 24 and November 14 are the remaining dates).  For more information contact Thomas Dumont at 517-667-0235 or email tommydumont@yahoo.com.  facebook.com/saintjohnjackson.

The Art of the Book.  Turning old books into works of art, the creations of Jackson College art students will be on display in the Potter Center Art Gallery through May 5 in a presentation entitled “The Art of the Book.”Students in Professor Tom McMillen-Oakley’s Art 201, Three-Dimensional Design class re-purposed old books from the William Atkinson Library into works of art. Students have worked on similar projects, but have never been tapped by the library before. Books were given a second life by the students. There is a huge trend in the arts and crafts movement to repurpose items, from wooden shipping pallets to glass bottles and more. The trend is called “upcycling.”  The Myers Family Art Gallery is located on the second floor in the lobby outside the Harold Sheffer Music Hall. It is open today during Potter Center regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and also during special events.

Toastmasters Demo Meeting.  If you have always wanted to hear about the buzz of Toastmasters and thought we make Toast come join us at LifeWays CMH Pine Room for a demo meeting. We help develop and hone communication, leadership, time management meeting planning and much more.Snacks and refreshments will be provided!  12 Noon to 1 PM, LifeWays Pine Room, 1200 North West Avenue, Jackson.
