Wrestling

Interstate-8 Conference Finals at Lumen Christi:  Hastings High School edged Northwest 216-208 to claim the Interstate-8 Conference title at Lumen Christi Catholic High School on Saturday. Western finished third (157.5) and Lumen Christi was seventh (36). Thomas Fall of Northwest finished third at 106 pounds; Cameron Beach of Northwest defeated Kaden Engelter of Western for the title at 113 pounds; Kayden Beach of Northwest won the title at 120 pounds and Ethan St. Andre was third in the same weight class; Jeffrey Miller of Northwest won the title at 126 pounds and Elijah Crist of Western finished third; Blaine Anspaugh of Northwest was third at 132 pounds and Quinn Ferris of Western finished fourth; Owen St. Andre of Western was second at 138 and Jack Edwards of Northwest placed fourth; Reid Garcia of Lumen Christi won the title at 144 pounds, Garrett Waldron of NWHS finished third, and Nolan Wahtola of WHS placed fourth; Titan Parker of Western was second at 150 and Gavin Beach placed fourth; Braden Gariety of Northwest won the title at 157 pounds and Gabe Hines of Western finished fourth; Zach Jacobs of NWHS was second at 165 pounds; Alex Trudell of Western claimed the title at 175 pounds and James Nurkka of Northwest finished third; Izayiah Hawes of Northwest was third and Josh Corts of Western placed fourth at 190 pounds; Adam Haselius of Northwest won the title at 215 pounds, Aidan Duncan of Western finished third, and Garrett Slider of Lumen Christi was fourth in the same weight class; and Ron London of Western finished third at 285. 

Big Eight Conference Tournament at Quincy: Springport High School finished seventh with 52 points and Concord was eighth scoring 26.5 at the Big Eight Conference finals at Quincy High School. Nate Fritz of Concord finished third at 106 pounds; Owen Thomas of Springport also placed third at 113; Jordyan placed fourth for Concord at 120 pounds; David Becker of Springport won the title at 126 pounds; Collin Thompson of Concord finished third at 138; and Rylinn Hale of Springport finished second at 157.  

Midland Girls Invitational: McKenna Worthing finished second at the 120B weight class; teammate Kayla Winget placed fifth at 125 pounds; and Olivia Wood of Columbia Central finished second at the 170B weight class.  

SEC Finals at Parkside: Jackson High School finished seventh with 74 points at the Southeastern Conference at home on Saturday. Bedford easily won the title with 211 points. Trevor Morehouse of Jackson was second in the SEC White Division at 113 pounds; Caden Bayer of Jackson was third at 132 pounds; Malik Monroe of Jackson finished third at 215 pounds; and Kyle Bonner was third at 285 pounds for Jackson. 

Cheer

Mason Invitational: Northwest High School finished fifth in the Division 2 competition scoring 571. Concord finished fourth in Division 4 scoring 638, Lumen Christi was fifth at 614, and Columbia Central scored 607 for sixth place.  

Western at Harper Creek Invitational: Western High School finished third with a score of 570. 

Bowling

LCAA at Hillsdale: The Golden Eagles finished fifth at the Lenawee County Athletic Association jamboree at Hillsdale. Columbia Central scored 1,571 for two Baker games and two regular games. Clinton won the event scoring 2,233. 

Girls bowling

LCAA at Hillsdale: Columbia Central finished fifth at 1,259 for two Baker games and two regular games. Clinton easily won scoring 1,836. 

Hockey

Lumen Christi 4, Jackson United 2: The rivalry game looked like a repeat of the contest in January. Jackson United scored first on a goal by Eric Bonser midway through the first period. But the Titans would score the next four goals to pull away. Jake King scored at the 3:50 mark of the first period tying the game for the Titans.  Brody Gregory and Wyatt Long scored second-period goals for the Titans. Lumen Christi put the game away at the 11:32 mark of the third period on a goal by Josh Baker. Jackson United had a 5-3 advantage in the third period and scored on a goal by Jack Whyte. JU outshot the Titans but could not get the puck past Zach Jaakkola. He finished with 27 saves in the contest for Lumen Christi (14-7). Jackson United is now 8-10-3 on the season.  

Gymnastics

JAG at Haslett Invitational: Jackson Area Gymnastics won the invitational against eight other schools with a score of 135.375. Western finished tied for seventh with East Lansing. Megan Jones of Jackson High School won the overall after finishing second on the vault (8.95), third on the bars (8.65), seventh on the beam (8.55), and second on the floor (9.4) with a personal high on the event.  Kaitlynn Rumsey of Jackson finished second in the vault (8.9), and Jenna Bradley of Lumen Christi was second on the bars (8.775) and second on the beam (9.175). Lilly Heydenburg placed seventh on the vault with a score of 8.75. The Panthers ended the day with a total team score of 129.475, their second highest score of the season.
