Volleyball

Columbia Central 3, Dundee 1: The Golden Eagles defeated Dundee and is now tied for first place in the Lenawee County Athletic Association. Bailey Surque finished with 38 kills and 19 digs, Kenadee Tompkins dished 55 assists, and Sydnee Miller tallied 34 digs and 12 points from the service line for the Golden Eagles. 

Hanover-Horton 3, Grass Lake 0: The Comets defeated Grass Lake 25-14, 25-19, and 25-23 at home on Tuesday. Becca Uphaus had eight kills and Lilly Wooster added six kills for the Comets. Abby Buttigieg had 14 digs and was 11-for-11 serving for Grass Lake. 

Napoleon 3, Vandercook Lake 0: The Pirates improved to 4-0 in the Cascades Conference with a 25-14, 25-11, and 25-18 win over Vandercook Lake. Momo Hampton had 22 assists, Alyssa Budd finished with 11 kills, and Kaitlyn Pequet had 11 digs. 

Concord 3, Athens 0: Concord High School swept Quincy 25-22, 25-21, and 25-18 on the road. Georgia Weeks had 11 kills, Hadley Kettwich finished with 24 assists, and Karlee Gamet tallied 16 digs for Concord. The Yellow Jackets improved to 3-1 in Big Eight Conference play. 

Tecumseh 3, Jackson 1: Jackson High School won the second set, but could not close out the match against Tecumseh. 

Colon 3, Jackson Christian 0: The Royals lost 25-9, 25-20, and 27-25. Madi Conrad had three kills and Kyana Herendeen finished with four kills and three aces for Jackson Christian. 

Manchester defeated Michigan Center.

Boys Cross country

Hanover-Horton 15, Addison 50: The Comets swept the first five places as Rogan Melling (17:03) and Evan Shepherd (17:50) taking the two top spots for Hanover-Horton. 

Concord at Homer jamboree: Concord won the boys’ 5K event with 36 points and Springport finished eighth scoring 157. Jonathan Mikovits (16:37) and Joe Bulko (17:03) finished first and third respectively for Concord.  

Michigan Center, Vandercook at East Jackson: East Jackson edged Michigan Center 29-30 in the boys’ event. David Loomis won the race for EJHS (19:20) and Xander Manzer was fourth for MCHS (20:21). VCL failed to post a team score. 

Jackson at Pinckney: Jackson High School finished fourth in the boys’ SEC White Division race. Chad Perrine finished 12th (17:18) and Nathaniel Hobbs was 18th (18:10). 

Napoleon, Manchester at Grass Lake: Manchester finished first, Napoleon second and Grass Lake third at GLHS last night.  

Girls Cross Country

Hanover-Horton 20, Addison 40: Sophia Reynolds (23:05) and Julianna Debozy (23:15) took first and second place for Hanover-Horton. 

Concord at Homer jamboree: Neither Concord nor Springport were able to post a score in the jamboree. Haylee Rinehart finished sixth (23:06) for the Yellow Jackets and Saige Patterson was ninth (23:28) for Springport. 

Michigan Center, Vandercook at East Jackson: The Cardinals were the only team to post a score with five runners. Kate Paterson won the girls’ 5K run with a time of 24:45 for the Cardinals. 

 Jackson at Pinckney: Jackson High School placed fifth as Olivia Perrine was fourth (21:23) and Kate Froedtert finished 18th (23:38) at the Southeastern Conference jamboree. 

Napoleon, Manchester at Grass Lake: The Warriors remained undefeated in Cascades Conference with a win. Manchester finished second and Napoleon third. 

Boys soccer

Pinckney 2, Jackson 1: Dylan Marshallsay scored the only goal for the Vikings.  

Manchester 2, Jackson Christian 0: The Royals played solid defense, but could not put the ball in the net against the Flying Dutchmen.  

Marshall 6, Lumen Christi 0: Marshall remains undefeated in Insterstate-8 Conference action with the win.  

Coldwater 10, Northwest 2

Girls golf

Concord at Adrian Madison Inv: Concord finished third at the Adrian Invitational with a team score of 502. Faith Moore led the Yellow Jackets with a 112 to finish fifth individually and Sidney Marshall shot a 116 finishing eighth.  

Boys tennis

Northwest 5, Marshall 3: The Mounties earned a hard-fought win over Marshall in Interstate-8 Conference play. Northwest swept the doubles matches with key win by Alex Thrun/Drew Maples winning 7-6(3), 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
