Basketball Boys District Tournaments

Division 3 hosted by Napoleon High School

Michigan Center 49, Napoleon 46: The third time was the charm for the Cardinals. After losing to Napoleon by 17 and 5 points, the Cardinals pulled out the win in the district final at NHS Friday. Michigan Center (17-7) will play the winner of the Springport district at Hanover-Horton High School Monday, March 13. Napoleon finishes the season with a 22-2 record.  

Division 3 at Lumen Christi Catholic High School

Jonesville 54, Hanover-Horton 36: Hanover-Horton High School took the lead at 31-29 midway through the third quarter but were outscored 25-5 in the last 12 minutes of action. Luke Soper scored 13 points and Kaiden Henry added eight points for Hanover-Horton (12-11). Jonesville (19-5) heads to HHHS Monday to face the New Lothrop district winner.  

Division 3 hosted by Hudson High School

Clinton 74, Columbia Central 69: Give Columbia Central High School one more chance and maybe they can catch their LCAA foes. The Golden Eagles lost to Clinton by 17, 7, and now 5. Derek Sanders led CCHS with 22 points, Andrew Hosmer scored 16, and Brandon Neitzke added 14 points. Clinton heads to the regional Monday at CCHS against the winner of the Whitmore Lake district winner.

Division 1 state team finals: For the second time in three years Jackson Area Gymnastics came home with hardware at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 1 gymnastics team final. JAG finished second to Rockford, 144.5 – 142.4. Alyssa Budd finished with a 9.725 on the floor and 36.8 in the overall. Jenna Bradley scored a 9.25 on the beam and 36.15 in the overall. Megan Jones finished with a 9.15 on the floor for JAG. Jackson and Western will compete in the individual finals Saturday at White Lakes Lakeland beginning at noon. 

Swimming Finals

Division 1 at Calvin University: The preliminary rounds were held Friday and the finals will be Saturday. Look for final results in tomorrow night’s scoreboard. The meet starts at noon Saturday at Calvin University.
