Volleyball District Finals

Division 2

At Parchment High School

Marshall 3, Western 0: The Interstate-8 Conference champions blanked Western in the Division 2 district final at Parchment on Saturday morning. The Panthers finished the season with a 32-11-2 overall record for the season. 

Division 3

At Grass Lake High School

Grass Lake 3, Michigan Center 2: The Warriors defeated Michigan Center in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 3 district final at home on Saturday. Grass Lake won 21-25, 25-15, 19-25, 25-22, and 15-7. Abby Buttigieg passed the 1,500 digs mark with 32 digs in the finals. Olivia Turner finished with 19 kills, Monique Diehl added 14 kills and. Mia Buttigieg finished with 42 assists for Grass Lake. Grass Lake will face Cascades Conference foes Hanover-Horton in the Division 3 regional semifinal on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. at Springport High School. Pewamo-Westphalia and Dansville will face off at 7 p.m. in the other side of the bracket at Springport.

Boys Division 2

Cooper Singleton of Western High School finished 92nd overall with a time of 17:09 in the Division 2 state final. 

Boys Division 3

Hanover-Horton High School finished fifth as a team in the Division 3 final with a score of 239. Rogan Melling of Hanover-Horton earned all-state for the third consecutive year by finishing 27th in 16:46. Lumen Christi runner Isaiah Dinverno was right behind him in 16:47 to earn all-state honors for the Titans. Landon Boulis finished in 53rd place (17:22) for Hanover-Horton, teammate Austin Brown was 79th (17:37), and Gannon Shore of Lumen Christi was 90th (17:44). 

Boys Division 4

Adair Artis of Concord High School earned all-state honors for a second consecutive season. He finished ninth in the Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Division 4 state finals at Michigan International Speedway on Saturday. Artis finished the 5K course in 16:29. East Jackson runner Michael Allen also earned all-state honors by finishing 21st in 17:11. Cole Bates of Concord was 55th (17:43), Javin Mericle of East Jackson was 62nd (17:50), Isaac Waldron of Concord was 85th (18:05), and Diego BoCole of Jackson Prep was 140th (18:47). 

 

Girls Division 2

Northwest High School runner Chloe Khon finished 111th in 20:37 in the Division 2 state final. 

Girls Division 3

Lumen Christi Catholic High School finished ninth as a team with 308 points. Macy Fazekas was 36th overall in 20:13 missing all-state by six places. Madison Osterberg placed 50th for the Titans in 20:26. Hope Wilkes of Columbia Central finished 79th with a time of 21:02 and Isabella Berry of Hanover-Horton ran 21:51 to finish 134th. The girls caught the short end of the stick weather-wise as it started raining and they faced a 32-miles-per-hour wind on the backstretch of the course. 

Girls Division 4

Concord High School finished 26th as a team with 566 points. Concord freshman Cieara Barrett finished 22nd overall in 20:31 to earn all-state honors for the Yellow Jackets. Olivia Ortell of Jackson Prep finished 124th in 22:44 and Riley Adams of Concord ran 23:07 to finish 152nd. 

SEC Swimming Final: Jackson High School finished third at the Southeastern Conference White Division meet at home on Saturday. Jackson finished with 440 points behind Chelsea (581) and Adrian (485). Megan Jones and Grace Dawson finished first and second respectively scoring 369.7 and 357.6 points in the process.
